im creating my own mod, a simple one. i want to use a pak file so that if i distribute the game to my friends they wont be able to see the .bsp's and the other sounds unless they will use a pak browser (wally).

the problem is, lets say, my pak file is named project.pak, i have a sky there named "night", if i put in the map properties in hammer: cl_skyname "project/gfx/env/night" it doesnt work. any help would be appreciated :(

thnx

You don't put a path, Hammer looks in moddir/gfx/env for the skies anyway. Just put "night".

You should not call your pak anything other than "pak0.pak" (if it's a standalone mod), or the next highest free number for an existing mod (i.e. if you already have pak0.pak and pak1.pak, call your new one pak2.pak).

I use PakExplorer! :D Make a pak file and call it whatever you need, then create the directory structure of HL (like sound, ambient and whatever) then put the files in. Or even easier, (only works with standalone mode that have their own directory!!! PLEASE NOTE!), put the files in their respective directories, then open pakexplorer, and move the directories into the pak. You can download pakscape on my site, m0pm4p.
