OK you know how in quake and things they had background music? Can I do that in half life?
(sorry if this has been brought up before, I did a search for it but didn't find anything)

hmm. yes its a trakc from the hl cd. i dont know the names but the entinty has something wihtcd in it.
i never play with cd

I guess I could do that, but what if I chose my own song, put it in the mod I am making's sound folder- and want it to play? I think that I may be able to make a ambient_generic, choose that, and toggle the Play In Whole Level thing on right?

this is somthing i i am interested in learning as well as i amm making a themed map and would love to have a them song in there so u put cd_audio do u tie to your map brush?

what? no.... Forget the csaudio thing... You have your sound, put it in your valve/sounds folder. Make an ambient_generic entity - put the wave file as w/e the sound is, and then in the flags tab of that entity check off the one thats something along the lines of "Play entire level" or "Hear Entire Level" I think.

there is a max file size for sounds, I think. Dont have too long songs, please.

ok ..the sound is my area....when you use an ambient_generic the sound will pan around your ears if you change your point of view....
and thats not cool...the idea is the sound play everywhere without the "pseudo-stereo" efect....
i mean a gratt sound...no dopler, no panning..etc...is that possible to do?...thats the real question.....

a really good sound on folder ( not on cd ) with a constant presence, an ratio while we are playing!......

with the ambient_generic the sound variates depends of your position...

I would think that if it play's it over the entire level, that there is no "pseudo-stereo" effect. I don't know lol, maybe someone will test that someday.

Or you could go Alien Blast style on it and have a repeating .wav file playing in certain parts of your map.
