I'll open a thread about vox sound creating again .I asked about this in december 2007 but I wasn't very enlightened .

How can I actualy create a vox sound ? i experimented with the sentences.txt file but I didn't find any method .

I want to create a new sentence . I can create only a word ? I didn't know that . Anyway , I want to create a new sentence using the fvox voice .

No, you can't make your own words (unless you record them yourself and add robotic feel to it).

To make custom VOX sentences, you're only limited to the words in the VOX folder.

You'll need to add a new line to the sentences.txt file. Only sentence per line. Example:

CUSTOMVOX01 bloop(p150) bloop(p150), attention, whiskey for gordon freeman immediately

CUSTOMVOX01 = the name of the custom VOX sentence.
bloop = an announcement sound thingy
(p150) = Pitch (default: 100) There is also (t#), (e#) and s(#) is believe.
Comma's are used for a short pause.

So I can make my own folder with lots of words and make sentences just like this ?

And these sentences can be spoken by certain monsters , right ?

[EDIT} in the map "de_dome" I made a custom sentence like this without knowing it was a "custom sentence" :)) . But I didn't use the sentences.txt , I used ambient_generics triggered by a multi_manager .

And a custom sentence , I made on too ( using the sentences.txt ) , recording my voice . I used it in an example map or what .... ( hl in less than 20 seconds I guess ... )

The thing I didn't know was if hl1 has a vox generator or not . Well , unfortunately , it hasn't

Maybe. Never tried it so i don't know.

VOX sentences are used by the announcement system, not by monsters. Use the speaker entity to make you custom VOX sentences work ingame.

If you just want a monster, like a scientist to say something, you just record the sentence with either your own voice or get a voice actor to do it for you, then put the file in sound/whatever, and you use a scripted_sentence to make the sci actually say your line.
Note that you need to make a new entry in the sentences.txt file.

You CAN use any sentence for any monster. A VOX speaking scientist will look really lame unless he is a robot scientist. I use a VOX sentence on a scientist when I need to play an exact VOX sentance. Just make sure you can't see the scientist when he speaks.
