"Could not find filesystem dll to load"

Why am I getting this everytime I compile a map.

Because you haven't set up Hammer correctly to work with Steam. A work-around
is to NOT auto-start the game after compile, instead just manually start up the game after compile and load your map.

There are ways to make Hammer autostart the game correctly with Steam:

1. "File"--->"Run"(F9)
2. Press on the "Expert"-button to enter the expert compiling mode.
3. Select "$game_exe" in the list, then add into the "Parameters"-box: -applaunch 10 +map $file
4. Press the "Go!"-button.

(This would automatically start up CS 1.6 with your map, if you want other game you need to change the number after "applaunch", Half-life is 70 i think, a list can be found here: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Steam_Applaunch_IDs)

Or you could have placed HL and (C:) and Hammer in (D:) (or the other way around.)

That can fuck it up.

It works now but whenever I make a change, like eliminating a light, then running it, the changes do not appear in the game. Is that because of this problem?

Read through your compile-log. You could have an error that prevents a new BSP-file from being created; leaving you with the last working version.

"the changes do not appear in the game"
Means it hasn't compiled. ;)

If your just starting out, i'd highly recommend using the Batch Compiler to compile. Hammer compiles work perfectly for some people, but many people also claim it can be very buggy and do great things like compiling the wrong map, and refusing to compile certain filenames for no sensible reason.

Google "Nem's tools" if your interested.

Oh God... Pleeease...

Blackened, use The Compilator. Its a front end just like Nem's Batch Compiler, but made by me. Plus, i provide better application support and troubleshooting. Nem doesn't at all! :thefinger:
I thought i already had you using The Compilator, Captain Terror. Probably not. :(

Nope never tried it yet! Nem's works for me and it's hard for me to change to something new after awhile, but I promise i'll try it. ;)

Yours IS a Batch Compiler too anyway, which is a perfectly acceptable replacement for Hammer compiles. Point i was tryin to make was don't compile with hammer.

I'll download now Muzz! :(
