Discuss Spore. Do you play it, do you want to play it, do you hate it, etc.

I've been playing for the past week or so and I can't get enough of it, quite honestly.
Not sure how long that's gonna last, though. I can totally see where repetition can catch up to you.

I love space. It's just fun to control the spice trade and have alliances and destroy others. The shear epic size of it is kinda cool, too.

For instance, this little story:

I was allied with this guy for the longest time, and he helped me fight a war or two.

One day I was flying along, and he decided to demand 3 million from me. I told him to more or less fuck off. He got mad at me and ended our alliance.

An hour or so later he demanded 3 million again. I decided to up that payment and pay him 4 million, except it came in the form of a planet bomb, whatever they call them.

Long story short, he no longer exists and all of my allies are upset with me for "breaking galactic code". I got a good kick out of it, at least.

I have it and I'm quite torn. I think the massive hype is to blame, it's really a neat game but I can't help thinking that I expected more somehow.

I enjoyed the cell and creature phases, the tribal and civ phases were honestly mindnumbingly boring. Can't really say anything about space as I've just entered it.

I managed to forget to paint my UFO so I'm flying around in a completely grey ship, any way to change that?

I love spore too . I reached the Space Stage .
But I only like it very much when you upgrade your creatures . That's what I thought first spore is about . After tribal stage , things get boring .
Heh , space stage isn't so boring as the tribal and civilization stage are ....

Spore is great!
Everyone who disagrees should be send to a random lonely planet.

I like the civilization stage because it has an RTS feel to it, which i like.

it's not an MMO, PB. There's no actual live element. The "multiplayer" element is only that every other creature ever created ever could appear in your game.

My first ever race, maytheyrestinpeace, just got blown into oblivion by a master fleet of space brocollis.

i fucking love spore :']

The only bad thing about the space age is that your planets have way too many disasters which you have to solve. Very annoying when i'm a thousand parsecs away trying to negotiate for a race of lampshades to lend my fleet one of its ships.

I've spent moar than enough time carefully planning and finessing my race into an exotic bird-of-paradise clan with elegant buildings and a tropical home planet.

Of course, I will start a game this weekend a race of creatures that will resemble pirates and act apart.

That or the classic penis creatures, i haven't made one yet :/

In fact, we should share some spore crap here on this thread, trying to find them on the online sporepedia is hell with over 10 million creatures to sift through.

One would assume seeing as you live in the UK and Royal Mail is by far the fastest most reliable postal service in the country? Hmmm?

Got my copy, sat under my bed, not able to play till by birthday. :(

EDIT: Just read the UK PCGamer review...bad idea. WANT NAOW!! :( :( :(

Go to any of your cities, go to city editor thing, then go to your spaceship editor from there.
The only bad thing about the space age is that your planets have way too many disasters which you have to solve. Very annoying when i'm a thousand parsecs away trying to negotiate for a race of lampshades to lend my fleet one of its ships.
Not only that, but it's the same three disasters or problems. This is where repetition might get me.

You can tell it's just busy work. Like whenever you're on a conquest to destroy another race, an environment disaster ALWAYS comes up more than once. It's there to piss you off and it was a bad idea on Maxis's part.

I still love the game, though.

I'm thinking about buying it. But when I heard that you can be attacked by other creatures my hopes bursted like a balloon, I am a balloon.

Being attacked is no fun. Attacking is fun.

I'm one of them dudes that doesn't really like a good challange in a game.
Let's say I buy GTA 4.
Stage 1; insert disc.
Stage 2; type in the cheats.
Stage 3; Massive killingspree.

I'll just wait untill it has dropped in price.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(x99999999999)L !!!!!!!!!!

You can always try a torrent and if you like it , you buy it . That's the best way to try out a game (demos always suck). And hey , if you get bored , at least you didn't spend your money !

Or I could wait untill it has dropped in price and return it if I don't like it? :o

Or is that just with console games?

Either way, I've been hangin' on the legal side ever since I got my Mac and discoverd iTunes.
I've always been legal with movies and games (most of the time). So downloading a game now and wrestle with cracks and keygen's doesn't sound like a pleasant idea in my ears.

Maybe I'll do that on my PC, I don't mind filling that one with crap. I gotta tell ya, the dislike you guys seem to have for Mac's is totaly based on nothing. I've been using my Mac for everything that I used to do on my PC and everything works MUCH better on the Mac. I'll never buy a PC again! :P

But yeah, post some reviews and opinions! I'd like to know more about how fun this game acualy is!

Striker you rule! I'm going to do it right now, and if EA calls FBI to close this site, it's Striker's fault.

I haven't gotten it, and probably won't for a while.

I am too occupied, with work, kid, and book.
