The Half-Life 2 beta (which I have) has the newest version of Hammer used for HL2 on it..... However I tried to get it to work and was unable to..... It is possible to open the program but setting it up is the tricky part..... which as of yet I havent been able to achieve.

what a idiots. they have some source code. but i know what you cna archive. i saw a video of a ilegal version wich shows how you cna bind entintys and models together and make em move like a fair ride. cars flying around at a giant arm wich rotats and moves up and down and you can even go sit in the cars

I think he's mad because everyone is mad about the source leak. I mean come on I want this game as much as anyone else but why ruin it by getting some dodgy source code thats hurting Valve dearly? No wonder the game aint out.

BlowyMcBlow, we should string you up and rape your family for saying that.
Unfortunately, I have no idea where you live, what your name is and whom your family are.

valve wanst nearly ready with the game on september the 30th.

Exactly pepper. No, the leak wasnt a publicity stunt, or a possible chance at buying more time. It was simply a very big luckstrike on Valves part, because now instead of saying "We cant release the game yet; its not ready", they get to say "Our source was stolen. It will push back the release date". And I have the leak, yes. So damn what. Its fun to map for (yes, I can use the new hammer editor - it doesnt crash for me), and its cool looking at really unfinished things now, so when you get the game you'll remember areas from the leak - but they'll be suped up.

The leak even has multiplayer support already installed (Via the `ol /connect method that is)

somebody knows how configurate the hammer 4 for HL2...?

whats up with the materials folder?....whta to do?
Posted 20 years ago2004-05-05 10:49:44 UTC Post #25599
Cough just select the entire materials folders /Cough

Also, the entire folder for HL2 needs to be on C: for maps to compile.

Go to the textures panel in Hammer. Look at the materials tab. Hit "Add", and then browse for Half-Life2/HL2/Materials - and add that entire folder.

Actually MCYORIAN, I use to think a lot like you. I mapped for the leak, at an attempt to get a "head-start" and learn the +200 new entities in the new Half-Life2. But, its pretty useless doing it. Valve is revamping a lot of areas of the game, so when you get the "legit" editor, it'll probally be a lot different than you relize (entity wise; not layout).

Can some admin lock this topic? This is illegal stuff...

Yes, I'm really eager to see HL2, but that doesn't mean I can put my hands on the stolen source.

[qoute]It was simply a very big luckstrike on Valves part, because now instead of saying "We cant release the game yet; its not ready", they get to say "Our source was stolen. It will push back the release date".[/quote]

I remember having read somewhere that Valve said they wouldn't have made the september release anyway. Surely it wasn't a luckstrike. They had to rewrite large parts of the source-code. And believe me, that's no fun...
And hey, if it becomes a better game by a delay, then what's the problem? A little patience is not so bad...
Posted 20 years ago2004-05-05 11:48:24 UTC Post #25629
I agree, but that game better be God-like.
Valve delayed it, what, 4-5 times?
I dont have any trust for them anymore - the same goes for CZ, it was delayed, announced gold, then taken back again.
To quote FM in his goodbye post,
Valve doesnt respect the fans and mod community anymore.

They delayed HL a year... and it became the game we all loved. Delaying HL2 doesn't mean they don't respect us, but that they want HL2 to be as good as possible. If they hadn't delayed HL, it would've been a silly game. I think they do respect us by putting more work into it, even if that means it has to be delayed. Better a cool game later than a crap game now...

Yes, I've read Fragmasters goodbye, and no, I don't agree with him.

Although it is indeed strange Valve said only 7 days before the deadline it would be delayed.

But then again, Valve owes us nothing, and didn't HAVE to make HL2... Be a little more thankfull to the people that made your modding possible...
Posted 20 years ago2004-05-05 12:35:26 UTC Post #25636
Valve owes us nothing
This is very true. Valve is a company, not a personal friend as some people seem to think. While it is to their advantage to be popular with the already-existing HL community, it's not their job.

if we can just make money out of Mods j/k
valve already spent millions of dollars for that guddamn never ending delaying "OMG i was haxored!" game.

Im tired of all these dumbasses, too afraid to discuss the leak. Its a damn game. Its not going to destroy the earth. Its not going to raise taxes. Its not going to do anything, but entertain you. Leaker? Fine, whatever the hell you want to call me.

Too afraid? Nope. I just don't want to.

Besides, why not have some patience? There's nothing wrong with that...

exactly. playing a leaked game isnt wrong. niether is benifit fraud, murder, rape, illegal immigration or any other crimes out there.

for f**ks sake, its not just a game, its a leaked game. stolen game. and im sure out there somewhere is a law against stealing. they took the source, valve sets back hl2. do you think they can just say "what ho, chaps! lets scrap half life 2 and start again!"? valves now working on changing parts of the code, which isnt exactly free of charge. believe me theyre as happy about the setback as we are. they have to pay more to get everyone back working on hl2 and how are they suppsed to make ends meet if people keep stealing thier games before theyre ready!?

It's like downloading games only much worse since this time it doesnt only affect the developer and/or publisher.

Go to the textures panel in Hammer. Look at the materials tab. Hit "Add", and then browse for Half-Life2/HL2/Materials - and add that entire folder.
mmmmmmm the panel doesnt load the folder.....it loads the folders inside materials but one by one......aaarrrrgh!.....
