Hello, I bought a new PC with the following videocard:
ATi RADEON HD4850

When I open hammer, and a map and I want to select something in 3D view you cant. You can surf around in the map, but you cant select things.

Now I know this problem. And I know how to fix it on my old pc with a Ati RADEON 9800xt. You just need to download a older Driver, install it in some random folder and pick out the atioglxx.dll and place this file in your hammer directory. Very easy fix.

But now, I got this new videocard. And the old atioglxx.dll file dont works on this PC (Got vista now, old pc has XP). And, there are now "old" drivers for this videocard.

So for now, does anybody have a old driver file (atioglxx.dll) that works on vista? Or is there another way to fix this problem?

Your operating system is not computer hardware, it is software which you can install and uninstall.
You can install XP on your PC.

"Switch to XP" is not really a very helpful solution to people who have Vista, because if they wanted XP and could easily get it, they'd already have it.

You might want to read through this, raver, I think it's what you're looking for. Read the italics section at the end.

Hmmm, that makes me wondering...
I still use XP myself with an pretty old ATI card (X1600Pro) and any driver version above 7.11 creates that can't select in 3D window issue. So im wondering, what if i install the latest drivers for my videocard and use that dll file Masta Killa provided, would that fix the problem? It fixed the problem on Vista with pretty new cards, but what about XP and an older card?

I might just try it out, but if doesn't work, i wasted an hour installing the latest driver, and then uninstalling that driver, and then reinstalling the 7.11 driver...

I have no idea, if it works with XP or not, my desktop machine also has the same problem with XP and a HD 2600 Pro, but I didn't bother to try and fix it, because I mainly use my laptop atm.

Maybe you could make a backup copy of the dll you have now (with the 7.11 drivers), and copy it into the Hammer folder.

Well, I didn't really map since I fixed this problem, so it may be, that it's slow when working on complex maps.

EDIT: I just recalled...when I was searching for a solution, I read that even if this works, it would make Hammer relatively slower. That's it I guess :\

But at least it works.

did you try the fix mentioned in the wiki entry? disable your video card before you use hammer?

I guess that makes it run in software mode, which would also be pretty slow.

Actually, it would be nice if the guys at ATI would be able to come up with decent drivers, darnit

yes, but slow software mode is better than no mode at all.
