I am not really a Star Trek fan, but after watching this official trailer leaked on You Tube (where else?), I must say that I might check this movie out when it comes out. Now, the video is not exactly top quality here, but it's just good enough to make out all the action. BE WARNED: Since this is an unauthorized release of the trailer, most likely it will be a matter of time before You Tube removes it from their site, so there is a chance this link might be a goner already:

Simon Pegg's scotty accent sold it for me. I will see this film.

I can't wait to see the female crew members in their Star Fleet uniform mini skirts flashing their "phased-array" G-strings. Mmmm, I wonder if there is going to be some inter species booty call.....

The actors for Kirk and Spock look a little young to fit the bill, but I reserve judgement.

I actually didn't know this movie ws being made until I saw it listed under Simon Pegg's IMDB profile last week, and saw that he would play Scotty. I loled.

In any case, I hope its fun. I quite like Star Trek.

They need to look that young, according to the movie's plot, they will be featured as Star Fleet Academy cadets.

Well, if this movie becomes a big hit like it's expected to be, I am sure Paramount studios will start on a new TV series to further reignite the franchise.

Please God no. Not after Voyager and Enterprise.

Voyager kicked arse.
Don't make me go trek-geek on yo' ass.

DS9 and Enterprise were the failchildren

Tito, what happened to your overly intelligent and philosophical posts that I've come to know and be annoyed by?

Nah, just kidding ATDestroy. Really, here's the thing: I was having a few beers, so I was under the influence of alcohol. Please disregard that post. Oh, as for my "overly intelligent and philosophical posts", I will see if can try to tone it down then.

Well, the main guy behind the movie is big time Hollywood producer & director J.J. Abrams. To get an idea of the quality of his work, here's a complete list of his filmography: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0009190/
By looking at what he has had a hand on, you can more or less tell how the new Star trek movie might be like.
Actually, that's TWO pancakes.
Yea, I know. But the picture is not my work, so I can't really fix it.

This reminds me of what they're doing with stargate. Apparently the new stargate series will be based on a single ship in some other galaxy. Looking for god knows what.

It's a direct star-trek ripoff but since i'm such a gate fan i'll have to watch it.

Trek movie looks decent but i doubt i'll be seeing it in theaters.

I kinda got tired of Stargate after the replicators came back after being "destroyed for good" about 10 times previously.

IT'S OFFICIAL NOW!.......The Star Trek trailer is up online at full QuickTime HD glory! I myself just saw (and downloaded with QuickTime Pro) the 720p HD version, and it's freaking awesome! Of course, Apple.com trailers also have the other lower res versions to choose from. Anyway, it seems to be a tad longer now than the previous bootleg version on You Tube. So here's link to the new QuickTime versions (remember, it's trailer #2, not #1): http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/startrek/

Here's a high res screen capture I did from the 720p HD version of the new trailer. It seems the Enterprise under construction on one of Earth's deserts (area 51???):

lol Star Trek sucks.

I hope this is a miserable disaster so the whole franchise's reputation can be ruined even more, but I don't know if that's possible considering all the Star Trek branded shit we've seen thus far.

Seriously, I don't think anybody cares except... dorks.

And yeah, I did watch it. Looks like a typical sci-fi trailer, nothing unique. :\

Way to be a trolling douche there, Srry.

Okay, I see you made your point about Star Trek, you don't like it. Now, is it just Star Trek or is it sci-fi in general you don't like? The reason I ask is that I know some people who don't like Star Trek either, and yet love other sci-fi stuff, like for an example: Star Wars.
Posted 16 years ago2008-11-17 22:55:10 UTC Post #258676
Srry pretty much just said exactly what I was thinking, only I might've said it nicer. ;)

Sci-fi in general isn't bad, I don't get why everything is rounded down to Star Trek or Star Wars though, they're both bland.

I've never seen any star trek movie (or tv episode), they don't really look very interesting at all.

I can appreciate the original three Star Wars movies because those were very unique and imaginative. And I've seen plenty of modern sci-fi stuff I've liked, but all these generic galaxy-hopping human/alien creature dramas just get on my nerves like nothing else. Blah.

But I will admit to actually having seen Star Trek stuff a select few times. There was some ancient movie my dad rented me when I was really young. I thought that sucked. Then I saw some random episodes on TV a couple times, some old some new. They were just as corny.

I did just see Forbidden Planet a couple days ago. That was the awesomest science fiction movie I've ever seen. MONSTERS FROM THE ID!!!
Posted 16 years ago2008-11-17 23:19:32 UTC Post #258679
Forbidden Planet does win, hands down.

But really, give Voyager, the one i like a chance. It's very different from the others hense why most treckies don't like it.

Since we are mentioning other sci-fi shows here (not that I don't mind) permit me to bring up one TV show that I think has to be the most gritty, sci-fi series with a razor sharp drama plot that I have ever seen: Sci-Fi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica". When it comes to it's deviant story line, unpredictable twists and turns and dark attitude, no other sci-fi show compares to it. And the acting,.....it's top notch, which is rare in this type of TV show. I can't wait for the second half of the final season to start in about 2 months from now on Jan. 16th.
