Never even played the first one, to be honest.

Someone let me know what it compares to.

F.E.A.R in a nutshell by Urby :rly: - A mash up of Doom 3's scare tactics and the Matrix' style. Often genuinely terrifying but its main aspect is definatly the action. Some of the fire fights are impressive but it all boils down to a pretty average shooter The inclusion of the kung-fu and bullet time are a little unnessecary and the much hyped AI is nothing but scripting and bullshit.

It wasn't bad. More enjoyable than the first, and really special effects heavy. Still wouldn't recommend buying it, it's all a big ball of cliche's.

The demo is 1.75GB. The Steam site minimum specs would be for the full game.

F.E.A.R 2. In a nutshell. Think FEAR with better graphics. Combat is still flat and uninspired and the actual 'fear' aspect is a little bit...well...shit.

I think the main problem with F.E.A.R. was the piss poor mapping has that been fixed for F.E.A.R. 2 or is it still a bunch of boxes floating in space that defy architectural reason

Awesome demo. I loved it.
I was in a hurry so I quickly played through it on Easy. Can't wait to try it again on Hard :>

I love it. Really. If the rest of the game keeps up with the same awesomeness it'll be a worthy sequel to an awesome game.

However I think people who didn't appreciate FEAR won't like this either.
Combat is still flat and uninspired
What are you on about? "Still flat" the first FEAR game had the most awesome AI ever, and probably still has even when compared to new games.
Sure, I only played this on Easy, so I can't speak much for the FEAR 2 AI, but I can say there is no such thing as flat combat. For once you actually need to use your brain to fight them off.
I mean, compare it to half-life 2 AI. HL2 ain't got shit. IMO it's all about the enemy and how they act.

lol'd hard.

I recently got Sin: Emergence off steam. It reminded me a lot of FEAR, in that both were just the same fight over and over again, completely unvaried - continually using the same tricks against you until they are just a repetative pain.
I'm really struggling to finish Emergence out of boredom, and I have to this day never completed FEAR, despite having owned it for about a year.

There is an exceptionally small list of games I haven't finished, considering how many I play, so it truly is a mark of a bad game if I don't finish it.
I mean, i even bothered to finish Bioshock, which was just a chore after the half way mark.

Oh shit, you did?

I decided to go back to it a few weeks ago, figuring I never gave it a fair shot the first time around.

The only thing that kept my into the game was the story, because let's face it, it's one of the best.

I got up to the very last level, where you're supposed to chase down Fontaine and whatnot, and I haven't played the game since. I just don't have it in me. Not sure what it is, either. (Probably that I expected the game to end 5 hours ago and it never did.)

yeah the huge plot twist was awesome, but another 5 hours of gameplay after it was just.. ungh.

And one of the most un-rewarding endings in a game ever
