I'm not sure how I feel about this, the visuals are incredibly wonky and it kind of makes me queezy watching it. The script isn't too hot either. It's still the best live-action HL video I've ever seen, but that's not saying much...

Its the first step to a hollywood Half-Life Movie/Serie
I really like to see the game script exactly in a 4 hour movie

The costumes/props were incredibly well-made for a 500$ budget. Effects were fairly good as well. Apart from the script sounding a tad cheap, I loved this.

Yeah, it's fairly impressive what they've done with the graphics (except maybe the zombies) but the script is awfully typical.

It's nothing like how I'd like a film to play out, but I guess it's close to how it should look near the end.

I hope it doesn't lead to a movie, though. You know it would suck.

Yeah.

Although, a Half-life movie, if made well, would be extremely interesting. Of course, I doubt anyone could make a movie that would satisfy those requirements.

True, it would require some insane effort to translate the Half-Life series into a successful movie series. There's a ton of cliche's that would have to be dropped (practically the entire first game is a cliche), you'd have to somehow give Gordon character that suits his actions etc. etc.

A lot of people simply think video-to-game movies will never be good too, but I don't buy that. Comic book movies sucked for the longest time but then BAM, Dark Knight in your face.

Agreed, I don't think its just that video game -> movies are bad, its just that video games are difficult to translate into a movie that properly represents the story in the video game.

Also, what would they do about the fact that Gordon never talks?

Then again, if I was making a Half-life movie, I would just forget about trying to have Gordon, I would just follow some other characters in the Half-life universe, kinda like this fan movie.

Tbh, Half-life just doesn't lend itself to be translated into a movie.
Comic book movies sucked for the longest time but then BAM, Dark Knight in your face.
There were some good ones, but if you're looking for something more than loads of action.. then comic book movies just aren't for you. Also, the Dark Knight has got to be one of the most overrated movies in recent years. BAM, in your face. :sarcastic:

If there was a movie, it wouldn't focus on Gordon for the pure fact that he doesn't talk. Or rather, we're him and we don't talk.

So I'd imagine it would focus on the rebels and perhaps you'd see Gordon run past or something.

Or the seven hour war/trip to city 17, following Doctor Vance and Alyx. I think that might make for a good plotline.

I was thinking it'd focus on someone else, like Jeff brought up.

I think jeff's idea of following the 7 hour war, and city 17 is actually pretty good.

you can hope for any good game movie, but there wont be any soon. if half-life managed it, then i will be surprised, as will most of you, it seems.

A Half-Life movie COULD NOT have any of the main characters in it. First off, Gordon talking would be a big no-no and secondly, they'd have to look and sound the same as the game characters.

A decent Half-Life movie would focus on a group of rebels or even a metrocop, which brief mentions of the games characters and past events to get new audiences up to speed. City 17 is a big place and White Forrest is even bigger. Not every rebel met Gordon, Barney or Alyx.

Or you make a complete new movie, where the camara's are the eyes of gordon just like ingame. And the actors are talking to the camara on the set .. but in the movie its gordon!
