They look nice! Can we expect to see these in 6D?
Posted 17 years ago2007-11-26 15:27:43 UTC Post #239205
I found a pretty cool site using Stumbleupon. All those warning signs posted made me think to put it here. Create your own warning signs, with symbols and your own text.

I bet you could just save the image and convert it to a texture!

:/ despite the fact you could make something better in photoshop in roughly the same amount of time it takes to make one of those.

If for some reason you can't stand free custom textures, point that out and keep your shit out of this thread.

I've been practicing. I plan to remake every Poison Garden texture as practice for later. I also have normal maps, alphas, and all that. Of course, I can't compile a VMT set for source. I'll provide the maps anyway later as well as wad versions for the gldsrc diehards.

6D will be quite extensive on quality I assure you.

Here's one that can be used as an overlay texture in Source:
User posted image
I've provided the VTF and VMT for quick usage:

km_misss_blanche.vtf (512x512)
km_misss_blanche.vmt

Note: put the VTF and VMT in a subfolder named kees_molders withing your materials folder for it to show up in Hammer and ingame.

Credits go to my uncle, Kees Molders, he made the original photograph and cutout. He shot this poster in my hometown. You'll find more photo's of my hometown on my uncle's website. The site is in Dutch so you might wanne use an online website translator if you want to read the text he has written. Else just click the yellow FOTO'S link and then click on a sub category below. If you click the gelderlander category, you'll find some photo's of the old train warehouse, the building i mapped for the Real World Reconstruction compo.

My hometown has a lot of old buildings and it might just be good reference for your maps. :)

Don't abuse it though guys.

Mainly you Spike. Don't take textures as your own, I know you edited your first one, but resizing the others don't count.

here are some of the textures i have made recently. speaking of tiling, once i get a single tile, i make new layers and edit inside keeping a border. check out the sands textures to see what i mean. it always scrolls nice but the pictures are different. last few pictures are not textures.

Hah, well, if you're making a bumpmap with the texture, i wish you luck, because its a pain in the ass.

Maybe I'm not understanding how bumpmapping works , but aren't the ditches formed by the bricks useful in bumpmapping ?

[EDIT] This is a texture I downloaded from cgtextures but I made it tileable :)

Well I got more textures from that site . Here's a set of papers . The last texture is a wood texture I made it tileable . I think it's very good :crowbar: .

Man, i WAS a noob back then, I'll see if i can come up with any semi-decent textures soon.
Posted 15 years ago2009-03-06 04:53:24 UTC Post #263864
These textures originally came from CGtextures.com I just tiled them and generated the ssbump maps.

The below two links are to a concrete tile texture and it's ssbump map. I have not included a picture of these textures because they are 2048 X 2048 pixels. But I do have a picture of what they look like when I tested them. (Click the image for a larger picture) Click the link to download a zip file containing the .vtf and .vmt files. Just extract them to your material folder.

Below is a brick wall texture with its ssbump map. The links are to to uncompressed TGA files. They are 512 X 512 pixels.

Hey all. I've compiled a few really nice WADs for my upcoming de_ map set in London. These include:
  • Interior decor (wallpaper, carpets, rugs, borders)
  • Front doors
  • Roll up metal doors (for shop fronts and garages, e.t.c.)
  • Windows
  • A few random useful bits and bobs too!
How can I share them with you?

P.S. I'm also in need of some good quality car textures (front, back, top and sides). I have some, but they're very low resolution and sucky.

Map's coming along great by the way! Detailing and texturing is taking a long time. But that's only because I was inspired by you lot to make sure it is worthy of your gaze.

Use a file hosting site like RAPIDSHARE

I wouldn't ever recommend using Rapidshare for personal web storage, but for "obtaining", it's well worth the price.
NO! Rapidshit is the devil, use somthing like megaupload -_-
Both Megaupload and Rapidshare have similar wait times if you aren't a member, and both have a limit of downloads per day for non-members. But Rapidshare currently hosts about over 9000% more public files than Megaupload, which makes Rapidshare the go-to site if you are looking for something. So what makes Rapidshare so much worse?
Posted 15 years ago2009-03-08 22:22:18 UTC Post #263982
Nothing at all. All public upload sites are a pain, but they serve their purpose. The important thing to know with rapidshare is that you have to create a free account, otherwise your file will be deleted after it has been downloaded 10 times. Personally I think that Rapidshare is okay even without having to pay for it, you get about 40kbps, and the wait times between downloads is only about 15 minutes after you finish downloading the previous file. Combine that with a program that does all this automatically (Rapidshare doesn't even need a CAPTCHA anymore), and you can find some really cool stuff. For popular files, though, usenet will always win.

tldr: stop complaining about rapidshare.
Penguinboy PenguinboyHaha, I died again!
Posted 15 years ago2009-03-08 22:51:37 UTC Post #263983
Tldr?

And again, unless you have a premium or whatever the hell type of account, it will be deleted after a x amount of downloads\time without downloads.

EDIT: just to note, I'm not trying to be a troll here, I'm just saying there are plenty of free hosting sites that suck ass, but still they ARE free, therefor no limits and ppl tend to like them better then stuff like rapidshare or megaupload.
