Im sure this problem is very easily solved so sorry about this.

Basically on Hammer, when I click to select an object on camera view it selects the object furthest away if that makes sense. For example if there are two walls one infront of the other, if I click with the intention of selecting the front wall it will select the back wall ...

I thought the solution would be to tick or un tick the 'Selection order' box on Options:3D Views but this hasn't worked. Any other solutions please?

Hold the mouse button in for a second. It should cycle through the objects in order. Just release the button when the object you want is selected.

That happens when the point of view of the camera is too close to any object. Simply move the camera back (IE: move away from the object that you want to select), then you should be able to select it.

Yeah, its not when I'm too close though its just generally from any distance. The advice TetsuO gave works but is time consuming having to the hold the mouse till you select the object you want to as it cycles through any others behind it before hand, so if anyone has any other solutions it would help alot thanks.

What graphic card?

I think ATI's cards used to have problems with the selection order (and selection overall).

Yes all said is true, plus a tip for very small brushes: for very tiny brushes, you must "zoom out" even moar to be able to select them.

Once you get the touch for the selection method Tetsu0 mentioned, you can become quite accurate at it. You can also CTRL+select brushes/vertices(in-case you didn't know) which is also extremely useful.

The obvious fix is to go into Hammer's Options dialog, select the "3D View" tab, and untick "Reverse Selection Order".

If that box is not ticked, you could try ticking it, I guess, to see if that solves your problem.

Edit: Oh yeah, I see you already tried that... /Edit

Alternatively, if you hunt through the Windows settings (via Control Panel) for your Display driver (or possibly your mouse driver) for a setting called "Z-Buffer sorting" or something similar, toggling that may fix the problem... I can't find that on this machine, but I'll have a look on the work machine when I get there, to see if I've got it on that one. (This machine won't run Hammer properly anyway. Curse you, ATI Radeon drivers...)
