Here I am going in to Yahoo.com so I can read my emails, and all of a sudden I read this headline: "Unlikely console revival - This gaming console, defeated eight years ago by the PlayStation 2, has a new life." Intrigued as I am, I click on the link that takes me to Yahoo! Game's Playback webpage with their news video feed: http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/playback/playback-42/1310463

Well, after seeing that short video report, I can't help myself but to laugh a bit. But after thinking it over more, I guess it kind of make sense what they say on the video, with the economy being as it is and all. The crazy thing about this with me, is that I actually still have this console connected to my second 13 inch backup TV along with the Genesis and N64.

So some site is now selling overpriced unsold Dreamcasts, and this is news? I don't believe anything in that "report", if you can call it that. They may be selling, but who's buying? The Dreamcast community was dead when I was searching for it four years ago, I don't think it's improved any. You can probably get PS2's for 50 bucks or less now, and way more support.

Oh, I agree with you, that's why I said that I "laugh a bit" when I read this. Unlike the PS2 that is still being made by Sony to this day, the Dreamcast has stopped being made by Sega years ago. I know you can still get PS2's for $50 or less if they are used on eBay, but what I understand is Sony's official listed price for a brand new PS2 is indeed $99. Now, maybe this changed recently, I don't know, so if anybody here has any updated info on this, please share.

Why wasting money and not using emulators on your computer ?

Because some ppl like to play their games on their "ULTRA HIGH DEFENETON" tv's, or just play a game in their room at 12 at night.

You can do that with an emulator, too :D

Yeah, your average computer monitor is more ULTRA HI-DEF than any of those TV screens.

But don't forget that 99% of the population doesn't know what an emulator is.

And also don't forget most people do not have a High Def TV either, they tend to cost thousands of dollars, unless you get a small one, but you still will end up paying close to a grand.

Now, this might be a dumb question, so forgive me if it is, since I don't know too much about some of the newer emulators out there, but is there a Dreamcast one?

Well, I suppose it depends on where you live but around here you can get up to 42" Full HD tvs for about 500 USD. Prices really dropped the last few years. Also. =)

That reminds me, I should fiqure out a way to hook up the old SNES to the TV in my room, and not just my N64... But I'd need a shelf...

It comes with a cable that's pretty easy to install. No user configuration required!

Yeah... but I need a shelf to store it on, and I don't want to have to unhook the other console every time I want to use one of them, like I had to as a kid. Besides, I can't fit behind the TV in my room to do that.

The best game i had for dreamcast was an RPG called Grandia II.
So epic.
I never beat shenmue, and i always wanted to get crazy taxi, but i never found the time to get it back then.
I beat the 2 sonic adventure games for it :)

Did she just say "According to the internet"?

I think she just did.
