Can anyone point me to a tutorial, or tell me how I might go about adding a timer to a HL2 map in Hammer? My clan is going to have a fund raiser in June and one of the events is going to be an obstacle course. We were hoping to make the player press a button that would start the timer, then they'd run thru course and at end stop the timer which would be their final time on how fast they went thru course.

Oh and one last thing, if the timer could be seen by anyone on the server that would be helpful so that a 'ref' could see how long it took them to run the event.

FYI, looks aren't important as long as the timer works.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Please use the edit button when you have something to add to a post. Thanks.
For the working part of the timer, you can use a multi_manager, and a func_door with the speed set so it takes the timed amount to fully open for the visual. This is for goldsource, if you're using source there's probably a VGUI way to do this.

Moved to Source.

I think this is what you need: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Logic_timer

Hey thanks. The guy who is actually trying to develop the map is fairly new to hammer and map development. Any kind of tips of examples would be great. Thanks.

go get the kreedz timer, works perfectly as a prefab with no mods.

@ kraken, the timer that kreedz made is made for goldsource only.

From what I know, kreedz jumping is only possible in quake engine and derivatives.
