Achievements are just personal goals now. The unlocks are awarded to you randomly when you play... or just wait in the spawn room.
Wow. That sucks. With that, they kinda killed the purpose of the achievements.

I like the new system really, it is flawed though. I got one force a nature in 6 hours of play, but valve is fixing it up.

To me the achievements seemed like a temporary way of having a way to give out unlockable items. I suppose I'm the only one who saw this new unlock system coming.

Shoot me, I think this is a blasphemy ... but after I played TF2 ( maybe I didn't played on the right servers ?!) I thought it would be a waste of money to buy it ... I can still play fortress forever. Same action.

I;ll buy it anyway when I'll buy Orange Box ...

New system is so flawed it's not even funny.

I played for 8 hours over the past 2 days, and got 2 flare guns and Jarate.

Yeah i keep getting the same weapons... I got 2 huntsmans and a few jarates... flare gun.. No hats yet, also got the heavy's Boxing gloves.
I've really only used the sniper and engineer.
I think my next class to legit try is medic or heavy.

And i joined the FT2 Party way too late.

Don't expect hats, there's some ~0.03% chance for every "roll" that you get for something. It's a nice surprise if you get one. I got the miner's hat, which is very suitable for a "soup miner" :P

I dont like spy. I've played a few rounds but i'm not too fond of it really. It just seems no matter what i do i always get shot.
All the time. I thought i was paranoid, but it seems that if you run into your base, you're gonna get shot. I just wanted to sap some turretts anyway...

And how do the "rolls" work?

There's "rolls" for item drops and criticals. Think rolling dice.
For each client, there is a "roll" that's on a timer. If you "win" you get an item. Critical rolls and item drop rolls are completely independent of one another, and you can increase your chances of "winning" crits by doing more damage.

Ahh fancy. I had no clue it was that intricate of a system. Essentially, the more i play the greater my chance of getting a funny hat. :) fun.
