Michael Jackson apparently died in hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack.

Did not expect that.

You are getting ahead of your self here, The Mighty Atom. As of 6:20pm Eastern Standard Time, Michael Jackson is still alive, but he is apparently in critical condition at a Los Angeles hospital due to a suspected heart attack. This story is still developing, so anything can happen....

Really?
Our local news network says otherwise...
Guess we'll have to wait and see what will happen.

Damn you are right! The LA Times is reporting him dead now! And it was in a LA hospital where he was taken to, so he could very well be dead then.

LA Times update to this: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/06/pop-star-michael-jackson-was-rushed-to-a-hospital-this-afternoon-by-los-angeles-fire-department-paramedics--capt-steve-ruda.html

The man was obviously very troubled mentally, but he was a genius musically.

Even if you're not a fan, you can't deny the impact he had on pop, and the significance of his death.

Why does it seem like everybody important in the world is suddenly dying?
Posted 14 years ago2009-06-25 21:14:06 UTC Post #268920
I've already received 3 joke emails about his death.

"Whacko Jacko Cacko from Cardiaco Attacko"

"Michael Jackson requested sea burial so he can be tied between two buoys"

"Michael Jackson's face to be melted down and turned into a Playstation so little boys can still play with him"

Lowbrow, but I laughed dammit.

If he's still at his prime, the musical world would experience a loss.

But his prime was several decades ago.

I don't miss him anymore. Only his past is still relevant.

Apparently Michael Jackson was hard at work recording a new album and producing a few videos for these past few months, or at least that's what I keep hearing on the news now. But the really big thing that's coming out now, is that he had already lined up a big concert tour spanning the U.S. and the U.K., but the incredible part about all this, most of the concert venues were at near sold out levels! Yep, it sure sounds like a big come back was being engineered for it to start at the end of this year.

I can't say that I'm really sad to hear that he died. Like others have said, his prime had long since passed. After that, he was living as "just another guy" (take that term with a grain of salt).

Now, whether or not some of you liked his music, you at least have to acknowledge what he did for music and dancing.
There's a legacy there.

Edit: Looks like that's already been said many more times than I thought.

He still left behind a family and 3 kids...sure he took some scrutiny and it may or may not be true, but he did okay...even if he was a whackjob

he went crazy in his middle ages, don't know what caused it, all those face lifts and scandals on the news. but yeah, he was a very good singer, the first black star etc etc.

Never cared for his music, but I still feel sorry for him. He's been sick for a long time, and imagine the mental stress he had to endure with his debts and the constant lawsuits and so on. Dying at age 50 in a heartattack is no way to go.

Poor guy. his music was allright in my opinion. Terrible way to go.
And it totally dwarfs that charlie's angels chick dying.

Oddly, he thought it was okay to share a bed with a kid even when you're unrelated. He said that sex with that kid didn't even cross his mind, and that he'd slit his wrists before he'd do that. I'm kinda convinced he wasn't a pedo, and was just brought up in an unusual way.

Also those jokes were recycled as all hell.

I just read on Yahoo! news page that Michael Jackson left a combined debt of over $400,000,000! (four hundred million) He spent a lot more than what he took in, and believe me, he took in a whole lot! The opulence of his lifestyle was legendary, even by your average rich person's standards. The real fun will start soon when they start fighting over his "estate assets".

I don't know about that. Cardiac arrest is pretty good compared to how most celebrities seem to go.
Oddly, he thought it was okay to share a bed with a kid even when you're unrelated.
Parents do this with their kids all the time, and there isn't anything sexual about it. Really nothing should change if it's another kid, but for some reason the American society (at least) is increasingly convinced that any kind of act of affection toward someone unrelated to you is sexual.

@The_(c)Striker: Have you ever seen any of those Michael Jackson look-alikes or impersonators? Sometimes they even have some pretty big festivals out of them. Anyway, here's the Michael Jackson page of an agency that specializes in celebrity look-alikes: http://www.splitting-images.com/michael_jackson.html

Who knows, instead of using a statue of him, maybe they might use one of these look-alikes...
