So I just need some good suggestions about trance, techno, rock tracks... Because I have FUCKING BACK BUTTON that I accidentally FUCKING PRESSED on my mouse, I managed to delete one big page of track links to show you what I like. FUCK FUCK FUCK.

Rock : I like rock... but it can't go beyond metal( ok maybe I like "light" metal, like Tenacious D ? Some favorite tracks of mine are The Offspring- Pretty Fly- For a white guy, the Serj Tankian Album( elect the dead), thousand foot krutch : phenomenon, blur-song2 ( ok so you can notice that I like rock that gives you a " wohooo" feeling).
Trance, maybe my favourite type of music right now.

Tracks like : Alter Ego - Rocker ( ok not trance but something like it, and maybe the weirdest melody you've ever heard)
Banana Inc. - Tick Tock (Samme Mix)
Dancefloor Devils - Hungarian Rebel (Hands Up Edit)
supermode - tell me why (finger&kadel)
DJ Merlin & DJ C-Base- No Alternative.
Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400
Hard Trance- Zombie
Blutonium Boy - Acid over Sydney
We Fly - Dream Electric & Dj Arthur project - Trance Guitar
Srl3 - neongenesis(well... kinda too "anime" and fast, but it's good.. t's gooooooouoooooood)
Ravers Fantasy - Dj Spinback
Dan-J - It's Up To You (Trancequility Remix)

Well, tracks like these. I'm waiting for suggestions ( last.fm style thread ? )

Just copy paste the track names in youtube search, I'm sorry but I wasted the links with the back button on my fucking 518.

Do you mind older rock, like (for eg.) Autograph - Turn Up The Radio?

If you don't, try Poison, I like their music. Also Irom Maiden, if they're not too metal for you.

I tend to like some of the punk stuff, ie:

Sum 41
My Chemical Romance
Billy Talent
David Bowie
Blink 182
Linkin Park
Posted 14 years ago2009-08-26 09:30:15 UTC Post #272543
Sum 41's All Killer No Filler is a superb album. Everything they made after it is pretty awful.

My Chemical Romance are just awful. Always have been.

Billy Talent too.

David Bowie has some exceptionally good songs. Life on Mars? etc. But also some exceptionally bad ones.

Blink 182 are like new Sum 41 and Greenday. Shite.

Linkin Park, again started out great. Hybrid Theory and Reanimation are awesome. Meteora has a few good tracks, but the newer stuff is pish.

They can excuse any amount of crap he might have made.

And please, Linkin Park were never good. ;D

Anything by Bassnectar should do it for you.

I'd recommend the entire "Mesmerising the Ultra" album, with emphasis tracks Mesmerising the Ultra, Leprachauns Arise, Bursting, and Enter The Chamber.

Edit: Pendulum might be down your alley if you don't mind hearing the same "boom chish... boochish" drumline in every. single. song.

Breaking Benjamin
Three Doors Down
Collective Soul
Pearl Jam
Stone Temple Pilots
Lostprophets
Nirvana

Those bands make up 90 Percent of what i listen to.

Iron Maiden - Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter
Gamma Ray - Solid
Autograph - Turn Up The Radio
Iced Earth - The Funeral
Simple Plan - Jump
Poison - Nothin' But A Good Time
Motley Crue - Girls Girls Girls
Jet - Look At What You've Done
Senses Fail - Can't Be Saved

+ the rest of Iron Maiden, Gamma Ray, Simple Plan & Poison.

EDIT: My avatar was the cover of Iron Maiden's Live After Death for a while.

Depends on the Album. Listen to 9,000 Miles from In Silico.
Still has it. Starts at ~2:15 and sticks around for the remainder of whenever drums are used.

It's even in The Tempest at the end, a song where the boom-chish-boochish is totally out of place. It's almost like Pendulum realized that they forgot to use that drumline in the last song of the album and stuffed it there at the end.

Edit: Mutiny or The Other Side would have been better examples. But there's still an annoying lack of creativity in Pendulum's choice of drumlines.

What's with all the rockfaggotry in here? Unlike everyone else I'm going to recommend some music that's at least close to what Strike originally requested. World Crafter seems to be the only one who gets the idea.

The first thing you need to do is get over trance. I mean, trance, seriously? 99% of it is so generic and boring even I get tired of it. It's usually made by some desperately untalented 17 year old who's just warezed Fruity Loops and wants to "make it big" like Bassnectar. Ew.

Big Beat
The Prodigy
The Chemical Brothers
Fatboy Slim
Junkie XL (album Booming Back At You is nice)

Breakbeats
Bassnectar (Underground Communication is fantastic)
The Avalanches (doesn't fit perfectly in here, but oh well)

EBM
VNV Nation
:wumpscut:

Dance/house
Justice (they might not fit perfectly into house, but honestly they don't fit in any genres. Cross is awesome: you simply can't go wrong with mixing Jackson 5 samples and hard dance beats)
Alter Ego ("acid house"? are you kidding?)

Chillout/ambient (not a clear-cut electronic genre, but what the hey)
Zero 7
Thievery Corporation
Bonobo
Air

Trip-hop
Massive Attack
Morcheeba
Nine Inch Nail's Ghosts I-IV (okay fine, it's "industrial ambient". Close enough)

Drum'n'Bass
Telemetrik (new artist, My Lightyear is superb)
Tipper
High Contrast

Quirky and weird music that doesn't fit any genres but is still infinitely awesome
Add N to (X)
Slagsm?lsklubben (it's not bitpop by any means, but still awesome)
50 Hertz (slightly more awesome sister-band of Slagsm?lsklubben)
Fantastic Plastic Machine
Pluxus (Solid State is a must-hear)

Bitpop (there's a lot of generic boring in this genre, try to be picky)
Multifaros
Rymdkraft

Whew. I'm probably forgetting lots, but you know, I can spam this thread at other times. Of course, these are only the bands I've discovered in each respective genre: there's bound to be many more awesome bands you need to discover for yourself. To do this, I recommend last.fm and if you're one of the lucky ones that have access, Spotify. For some more backstory and even more band recommendations, check out (the now slightly outdated) Ishkur's guide to Electronic Music. Very nice.

gl, hf!

Edit: also, rockfags, don't get me wrong: I like rock too. And hip hop, and classical. And metal and death metal and symphonic metal. And pop. It's just that this list was supposed to be for someone curious about electronic stuff.
Posted 14 years ago2009-08-27 06:47:52 UTC Post #272581
Wow Elof, nice list. It kinda made me want to come up with a list as well, so here it is, shamelessly ripping off its structure :P

Big Beat

The Crystal Method (one of my all-time favorites, the albums "Vegas", "Tweekend" and "Legion Of Boom" are all a must-hear)
Dub Pistols (primarily the albums "Point Blank" and "Six Million Ways To Live")
Overseer (only a one-album wonder with "Wreckage" but still good stuff)
Fluke (actually it's more Electronic, than Big Beat, but what the hell - the albums "Risotto", "Puppy" and maybe "Oto" are the best, imo)

Chillout/ambient

The Future Sound Of London ("My Kingdom" and "Cascade" are my favs, but there's loads of others to choose from)

Misc

Juno Reactor (a mix between Electronic, Goa and sometimes Classical music. Some tracks are shite, but the albums "Bible Of Dreams", "Shango" and "Labyrinth" are pretty much win)

I guess that's about all I recall atm.

Double yes.

Wow, millions of thanks, especially ZombieLoffe, World Crafter and Masta Killa and ... oh well MuzzleFlash doesn't need any. He introduced me to the electronic music anyway :P.
Of course, thanks to those that made up lists with rock bands, although some of you misunderstood what I like and just posted their favorite bands ( Darkie: that's a copy paste from your profile ...)

Now I know what I'm looking for. And I'm finally going to have some... alternatives :D. This will keep me busy until next week :^_^:

[EDIT] About Pendulum, I already have "Hold your Colours" album :crowbar:
[EDIT2] EBM : I'm not going to download EMB tracks, I don't really like Electronic Body Music ( that's what it stand for doesn't it ?), but I'm going to download VNV Nation - Illusion. It's somewhat strange that this melody's feelings are deep. It makes me feel very bad about the modern world, kinda' depressing, almost crying, it's beautiful.

Assuming you're more into electronic stuff, go for Nine Inch Nails (most of it is industrial pop rock), The Prodigy (great stuff), Infected Mushroom (dance/electronic?) and Groove Armada (has some good simple, catchy tracks).

A short list, though that's the only stuff in my playlist I think you might like so far. Let me know when you move on to progressive rock/metal or jazz, I should provide you with something more-or-less worth a listen then. :>

EDIT:
ok maybe I like "light" metal, like Tenacious D
Oh god.

EDIT2:
Saribous seems to have beaten me in progressive metal suggestions. Townsend's music is epic.

Ok don't get it wrong, I just like good music. But I have preferences... yes I'm more into electronic stuff and rock. But when it comes to rock I already said this : I don't like the hard rock, and by this I mean all the agressive forms of rock : metal, heavy metal, black metal ... etc... that's to say, I hate bands like Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden( ok I still like the Iron man song =)) )
Daubster, thank you for reminding me about Infected Mushrooms. I have to redownload from somewhere an old album I had, it had a track "psycho" and other extremely odd tracks.

Now I'm randomly watching videos( I mean listening ..) with the bands you provided me in the thread, and also downloading the latest albums ( if I can :\)

I stopped on this track from chemical brothers : Link. Seems ok to me.
Can you recommend me the best ( by your opinion of course, not by statistics :D) album from these bands :

The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, YellowCard, Pendulum, Thousand Foot Krutch, The Offspring, Nine Inch Nails ? :D

The Prodgy - The Fat of the Land
Fatboy Slim - You've Come a Long Way, Baby
The Chemical Brothers - We Are the Night
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth

Just gotta throw two more recommendations in if you're into Nine Inch Nails: Tool and A Perfect Circle. I find them (both fronted by Maynard James Keenan) quite similar to NIN and very much worth a listen.

'Tis the only band and track you ever need to listen to now or ever again, forever and forever, amen... (really tho, I like the whole "Ribbed" album, but i've never listened to any of their other stuff yet. But for serious, the only song you ever really want to listen to again is the aformentioned TOTS.)

Moar Nine Inch Nails info from a fanboy:

I would recommend the albums "The Fragile", as Elof already mentioned "With Teeth" and "The Slip" (the last one is free for download from NINs official website, btw).

The earlier albums, such as "Broken" and "The Downward Spiral" are more angstier records, I guess you wouldn't like them, if you find even Black Sabbath "aggressive".

I used to dislike the idea of Torrenting music...I prefered to buy it ligit...but now I use it download music for songs that are not released yet, ei, Billy Talent 3 which you cannot buy in Australia yet, and I got it before it was even released in America. And also songs that are too old that nobody will have them...like pre 2000...or I can't find it in our really good local music shop...

[EDIT] About ripping music : What should I do until I get a job and have money ? Go watch music TV programmes\youtube\last.fm ? Please. It was the same situation with torrenting games like hl2 and gmod. But you know, after a while I managed to make myself a debit card and finally bought them. So, when I'll grow up and have the money of course I'll buy music that is worth my money.
