Aussies, vent!
Everyone else, rejoice! discuss.

Seriously, I think this is a major load of crock, mainly because i'm an Aussie. But how much worse can the gore be compared to the original, or other FPS games?

Hahaha, communist australia.
Edit:
The game was denied classification due to its 'high impact violence' against 'living humans infected with a rabies-like virus.'
LOL

care factor is zero.

i wasn't gonna buy the game till it was dirt cheap anyway because it is totally not worth my money. i actually grinned when i saw the news because it was so ridiculous and i cared so little.

people can still import from new zealand anyway.

it does highlight our need for an 18+ classification though...

But Steam has country-based content lockery. So it's pretty useless importing when Steam will block it or give you a censored version.

But otherwise, I'm with Trapt, very little care factor. And yes, we need an R rating for games, but it's being blocked almost solely by this cock.

Ah. 403 - Forbidden.

Yeah, I hate that guy.

I reckon this is probably a marketing scam anyhow. All the younger players of L4D who boycotted L4D2 will be all like "Woah, this was banned in Australia because its too violent? WOAH! I am sooo getting that when it comes out."

Darnit, image fixed.

So Valve contacted the Australian Classifications Board and got them to ban their own game in order to sell more copies? DEVIOUS.

I tell you what, if it makes everybody happy, I will send an email to President Obama asking him to invade Australia and impose the U.S. constitution there. Yea, I got connections. :walter: :walter: :walter: :walter: :walter: :walter:

Australia doesn't let anything past customs, to the extent that they made a TV show about it.
I guess it's no shock they won't let in these MURDER SIMULATORS they've been hearing about.

Ahahahahaha lol.

It's good to live in a country like Romania, there are absolutely no gaming rules. The only problem is that because of some romanian idiot hackers, we have restricted access to some sites like Veoh and copyright restrictions to some of the videos on youtube ( hopefully I only experienced this twice).

Get real there isnt't going to be any zombie apocalypse. That's pure sci-fi. Complex organisms, if exposed to high radiation, die.

Zombies aren't created by radiation, you idiot - that's mutants. Zombies are created via viral, bacterial, or parasitical infection, usually started after a government-funded research company goes too far.

That, again, is something you learn from video games. Has this been prooved scientifically on humans ? The human race is getting old, though I don't see mutants around us. When an untreated viral\bacterial infection occurs, people die.
[EDIT] I'm not qualified to answer like this. For better information, satchmo' should kick my\your ass with some information.

This is really bizarre. I really didn't see any difference in the amount of gore from the first game, then again, I suppose they may have done something we haven't seen.

Yeah, Fallout 3 was banned in Australia because of the detailed drug references and use. They ended up changing the names of the drugs and also adjusting the benifits/side-effects from becoming addicted.

And C_striker, yes, this is only really fiction right now. But such a thing could be totally possible. The movie '28 days later' is a good example, a virus that causes a massive unbalance in hormones and shuts down higher brain functions is, while yet unknown, is totally plausible as there are many viruses AND drugs that do exactly the same thing, just not on such an extreme level. And the virus is transmitted through blood or saliva and infects within seconds, sounds alot like the good old ebola virus that still lingers deep within Africa. If that get's to a populated area we are all fucked. The good news is that it infects and kills too quickly, so it would be hard for it to get off a continent.

Well, at least the game ratings make more sense. HL is definetly not 17+ material. I agree with the 15+ rating they gave it.

Australia's right up there with Germany when it comes to "batshit insane video game legislators". Something tells me their rate of homicidal maniacs still isn't lower than over in other barbaric countries where wide-spread censorship isn't practiced as much. Good lord, I hate people who think video games make players violent. So much in fact, I'mma buy me an AK and let loose the juice on those motherfuckers, just like in Grand Theft Auto.
Posted 14 years ago2009-10-03 07:40:19 UTC Post #273990
Don't. Jack Thompson will blame video games and call counter-strike a murder simulator. (How is a game about rescuing hostages from terrorists and defusing bombs a murder simulator? You get fined if you attack any NPC!)

He's been disbarred, but that wouldn't stop him from accusing games of things through the media.
In the U.S., when you hear about a lawyer getting disbarred, depending on the situation, it's not what it really sounds like. In the United States legal system, disbarment is specific to regions; one can be disbarred from some courts, while still being a member of the bar in another jurisdiction.

According to the U.S. Bar Association, disbarment is quite rare, instead lawyers are usually sanctioned by their own clients through civil malpractice proceedings and from other parties and methods. Because disbarment rules vary by area, different rules can apply depending on where a lawyer is disbarred. Notably, the majority of US states have no procedure for permanently disbarring a person. Depending on the jurisdiction, a lawyer may reapply to the bar immediately, after five to seven years.

So, all this talk about Jack Thompson being disbarred, don't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things. He can still be practicing law without any problems in another place. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't like the guy at all, all I'm saying it's not that easy to get rid of the license of a lawyer without going through a very big, very expensive legal fight that could last for years.
