i need help on cliping a map entity to an other map entity. i have seen it in other maps where a sprite is cliped to a moving object. where ever the moving object goes the sprite or what ever moves with it.

HL1 (Goldsource) or HL2? (Source)

Goldsource = not possible without spirit or hl or complex triggerwork.
Source = type the name of the entity its attached to in the "Parent" parameter.

also, your post was not near much help. if it cant be dont, howcome in the tfc map coolfort2 map the elevator doors are cliped to the elevator lift?

i know it can be done in some way or an other but i dont know how.

Maybe you need to do some homework. Goldsource is the engine that Half-Life and TFC run on, hence Striker's mirth.

Doable if you turn the doors into func_trains with paths next to the actual elevator's.

As rim said, the trigger-work will be quite complex, considering you both need to have triggers for moving the elevator and doors up when the elevator's supposed to go up and triggers for the doors to move aside when the elevator doors are supposed to open.

Also, you should stop using the term "clipping," as "clipping" is a term in GoldSource and Source mapping, but means something completely different.

The set-up you're describing is known as "parenting."

Anyway, am I right in thinking Opposing Force was the only official hl1 mod which allowed sprites to have train-like properties?
The elevator doors are certainly doable in TFC using the method ZombieLoffe mentioned, but I'm not convinced it can be done with sprites.

i don't even know what ZombieLoffe is or how you do it. im not here to discus names of methods and name the game engine properly. im here to discus the how how to miving sprites. also when i was talking about clipping i wasn't talking about in the mapping term.

ZombieLoffe is a TWHL member, Huntey referred to what ZombieLoffe wrote three posts up.

To make a sprite/model follow a moving entity you can use a laser with an "End Sprite" and "Target of Laser" set to the moving entity.
