Generally 'n00bs' just create a non solid brush and don't even care about properly setting the opacity of the texture, therefore they couldn't care less about what's under the water.

Good to see you aren't one of those joe.

It's a map in an old ship , where Black Mesa made their first
experiments envolving the teleport technology, back in the 50's.

You don't really know what your talking about do you? A simple water brush face not tied to an entity acts as a water brush and a VIS blocker at the same time, A method like this gives good mappers the opportunity to create large underwater areas without sacrificing r_speeds, A non-opacity water brush has nothing to do with noobness.

I couldn't agree more but it still looks great! Remember, valves original work (goldsource) is very basic and undetailed for the most part, partially because of what the common pc could comfortably render at the time.

With today's much higher average computing power, you can afford to add TONS more detail, reduced texture scales, etc. to your map, and still have good fps.

Really nice stuff though for sure.

Yeah, I think that was his point. And I too dig the aesthetic of those screenshots. They look low-res, polygonal, like a video game!

IngSoc I like the simplicity of your map, Nowadays most mappers go for new shiney textures and weird complicated brushwork where as you've kept it simple and very much resembling to how valve themselves made their maps. This isn't always a good thing, but in your case it is.

Controllable combine helicopter that shoots 5 rockets per second on command.

For sure! My goal is to make things plain and simple, but envolving, just like Valve, in my opinion it gives the maps more gameplay.

PS: Maybe i release a WIP today in Unfinished Stuff, just for some tips and stuff.

There are some pretty nasty smoothing issues on the handles I can't seem to resolve. This model is the first iteration of a replacement for the Spy's knife, if I can get compiling TF2 models figured out..

I have to get that smoothing cleaned up; otherwise the weirdness will show through when the player is cloaked and the handles of the knife have become translucent.

@tet Good! I'm glad you didn't give up because I almost did. With no competition I felt I would just automatically win so I'll try to finish mine. Your screens look really dreamy I better step it up a notch.

@captain, I'm entering for gold, my comp. doesn't compile fast enough for source to be worth it to me. I compile way too often. Wait are you entering? Oh yea well what engine did you decide on?
