definitely not a glock, Skals must be thinking of either the USP (my guess) or the .338 Compact.
Posted 14 years ago2010-09-05 10:16:09 UTC Post #284995
it's not the USP, the USP is longer with a bit at the front you can attach the silencer to, and the bit you hold onto is a lot flatter and squarier. Perhaps we should ask Unb what it is?

Could be a walther, or one of the fifty different types of USP.

I slapped on the low def grunt skins onto the high def model.

I'm all up for experiments though, don't get me wrong. Are you using it for something?
Posted 14 years ago2010-09-05 14:06:54 UTC Post #285011
Yeah, now remaking the textures in the same style sure, but straight copy and pasting looks bad. The commanders face and the helmet look pretty terrible.

well i always thought the old grunts looked "unfinished" compared to the rest.

I loved the skins though. and the hd pack still didn't improve the grunts much. so i decided to reskin them with the old skins. they seem more fitting now.

the helmet needs work, yeah i know. the commander's face is old. yeah he looks better now that was an older screenshot.

These have replaced my grunts full time and in all my mods.

I used to be pro-low-def models because the Hi-Def pack didn't really do it for me, but Romka and A.I. made the awesome Super-Def models and I've never looked back.

loved those models, just not the guns.

didn't really match the HD pack guns

I preferred the HD pack, just not the grunts. They seemed less detailed than the rest. Almost like they were rushed.

@ urby: Also, why is it that you can answer me and give feedback here, but you can't seem to speak to me on steam?

No, he's not, because those are already released and made by Romka.
He did reskin them, though, and will be using them (with permission, I assume) in The Core.
Striker: Yeah, it's nice. But the leftmost tunnel is a bit blocky, you should redo it with more brushes and smoothing groups.

EDIT: Oh, Urby! Are you using Ambient.Impact's SD Weapons for V_models? Because if you want, I can send you a version of his Shotgun with the stock unfolded to match Romka's Hgrunt model. It's Op4 arms, but you should be able to port it to HEV arms (or, in fact, start from the original HEV model and rotate the stock yourself) in no time flat.

Thanks CT and also thanks JeffMod! I didn't think about smoothing groups at all until know. I should give them a try. Btw, do they work on displacements?

Looks interesting, but is that a plate metal ceiling in the church/crypt/whatever? That doesn't seem too medieval to me.

Striker: They should, and if they don't, and if it's multiple displacement faces, you could subdivide instead.

@TJB: I guessed it was a BRICK ceiling. Still it's not the chronologically correct type of ceiling construction for a chapel or whatever it is.

I've encountered an error that says "Too many vertices in model" so I doubt I will not be able to compile this and and get it working in game. On the other hand, I got some nice practice out of it. Another project in the toilet eh :/

What are you talking about, just split it up into submodels.

$body "studio" "arms"
$body "studio" "gun1"
$body "studio" "gun2"
etc.
Posted 14 years ago2010-09-07 13:34:08 UTC Post #285174
well i tried that and it still doesn't work. I multires'd the vert and normal count down to around 100 and it still gives me the error. perhaps invalid geometry or something...

EDIT: Well at least I have awesome HEV arms now though. Released here!

But as long as you enjoy making it, that's fine. :)

And that fog better not cause any lag. Oh wait, that doesn't matter anyway.
