I was creating a new map recently, ihad the foirst room, a ladder, a desk, a chair, and a dead scientist. I had the ladder( i'm not the spelling champion of the world) close to a airshaft and i had a board woth little cilenders for nails holding it down. I changed all the vents to walls before i carved and saved. It was at this point i decided to test my map.

Then all hell broke lose.
The color was off for reasons beyond me and my light was not working properly. This was a mystery untill I looked up and discoverd that a huge chunk of the ceiling just dissapeared. I checked the map on Hammer and it was fine. All the textures were good and there were no errors except for entities with unused values. Anyone have an idea?

You probably caused a leak whilst carving. Be very careful with carving: complex objects can make Hammer and/or HL go insane.

Nope. You'd better create several brushes and shape them accordingly.

carving is howwibuwy scwewy. hollowing isnt to great either as the brush could be hollowed off grid and when you have a hollow room that usually means your going to carve a corridor out of it. make every brush individually and stick to the grid. never take snap to grid off, only use [ and ] to change its size.
