When I was 15, I first played the game. That was about 2.5, 3 years ago. After a while I discovered the WorldCraft editor and since I've always been interested in game-design, especially 3D-design, I started and since that time I never stopped designing levels.

I had the game since i was 10 and tried to map for it when i was about 11. Gave up because i couldnt work it out. About a year ago i for some random reason reopened WC and found this site after the map place on verc forums closed down. now im trying new 3D modling things aswell like 3DS max which i just cant grasp

I found TWHL the same way. I joined VERC and went to their Map Exchange, and there was a link to here.

i have hl for about 1-2 years. but i knew it for about 4 years,
then when we got modem i downloaded costumn maps for cs to play wiht bots, i founded out i couldnt play them so i got waypointing crazy on about 50 maps for serval mods like firearms. then i thaught, why not create my own maps. and i came the the collective. i donwloaded the stuff and made my first map only wiht the manual. and then when i got adsl a few weeks later i thaught, why not search on google for tutorials: i did, and found twhl to never leave it again

I had half-life for about 2 yrs, one day I was flipping through the game manual and found out that theres an editor on the cd. I used 2.1 for a while and I sucked at mapping until I found this site

Found Counter-Strike from a guy who played it at school. Bought the Generations pack. Found TWHL on Google (well played).

When I first bought half-life when it came out years ago, I looked at the box to see that WC 2.1 was on it, and it had that statement design your onw worlds for half-life' and I just thought 'wow, I've never heard of such coolness in a first person shooter game before'.

When I started mapping, it didnt occur to me about half-life dimensions and I had absolutely no concept of player scale, so everything was over-large. I also used the carve and hollow tool alot because I thought that you had to! ... Man, those were the days...
