Ive tried everything short of uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but Half-Life 2 Ep 2 is missing a BOATLOAD of files necessary to even play the game. All of Alex's scripted sequences, a lot of particles, and even some models are just missing.
I have no idea how it happened, but the game doesnt load them when i play. For instance, the first level of the game you're in the train and its falling down.. water is coming in, whatever...
but you're just in the train car forever because the scripted sequence where alex takes the door off the train just doesnt exist..

I can't even see fire because the fire particles are missing..

Should i try the reinstall?

Right click on it in Steam.
Go to properties.
Go to local files.
Click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache..."

You could save the GFC files, uninstall the game, put back the GCF files and then install. Would save you some time

Edit: too late I guess?

That wouldn't fix the problem if the content is missing from the GCF, though.

Idk i just re-downloaded it after deleting it.
Same old shit.
Maybe i'll just uninstall it, actually delete the HL2EP2 folder, and try reinstalling it again.
ugh

1. Close Steam
2. Delete this folder: "[Steam]steamapps[username]half-life 2 episode two"
3. Open Steam
4. Run Ep2 (and wait a while)

Have you tried this? This should force Steam to re-extract the Ep2 game files from the GCF.

First I deleted the local game content then I deleted the ep2 fonlder. it's redownloadin right now. so I won't know for another 12 hours or something
EDIT

Well the "delete everything & reinstall" worked.
Lost all my custom maps, but whatever. They were all mediocre at best anyway.

Thanks for the ideas guys.
