Akala was great, I am in love with the fact he actually has a band.I know exactly what you mean - a rapper who is actually a musician
but another example of awesome british rap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcFZEsn2LlsI swear if this is Skrein or The King Blues I'm going to be so proud of you. clicky
Speaking of Arctic Monkeys, I'm seeing them in late May. I'm really excited :3Sweet. You're gonna have to make a journal about that. Looking forward to reading it.
but another example of awesome british rap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcFZEsn2LlsIt is only lyrics, you can change them into "ama gangsta" and that would be another one shitty (c)rap song...
just raping with music in background.I find it sets the mood for a good bitta raping.
I'm guessing that's roughly your ageI'm 20.
I listen to everythingPerhaps you don't have taste of music, so everything is good for you.
Kanye West, on the other hand, just uses a beat, a bassline and talks himself up. That's it. That's his thing. It's tolerable in a club, but I'd never buy the album. That's a bit harsh, don't you think? It seems like your mixing his arrogant personality in the media with the actual music he made. It's much like B.O.B. in my honest opinion: he made a lot of shit, but there are some songs with a lot of soul to it. I'm not an avid fan of Kanye West, let that be made clear, but he has made some great songs with a lot of warmth and feel to them. This for example. Furthermore, he does provoke thought - agreeing with those thoughts is second. B.O.B. is a bit too poppy for me and his lyrical content is anything but original. But then again.. I suppose this is personal preference and I wrote way too much on this already. Haha.
Perhaps you don't have taste of music, so everything is good for you.Perhaps you're just being a troll with a lot of preconceived opinions?
It is only lyrics, you can change them into "ama gangsta" and that would be another one shitty (c)rap song...I think you've been jaded and don't really know how to judge rap.
Rap is not even music, it is just raping with music in background.
"good music is purely melodic" seems so deeply ingrained in your head. His listed bands included Arch Enemy. Very interesting artist they are; melodic they are not,
I love Kanye West.Well your name was ghetto.
Well your name was ghetto.Yep. Cause I was born and raised in one.
His listed bands included Arch Enemy. Very interesting artist they are; melodic they are not,Genre they perform is Melodic death metal, sooo...
His listed bands included Arch Enemy. Very interesting artist they are; melodic they are not,Emphasis on guitar riffs + unintelligible screaming lyrics that can be completely overlooked -> my point stands.
rap is more poetry than music, for better or worse, which means the emphasis is on the lyrics. With all due respect, but I find this perspective hard to take serious. Obviously lyrics are very important to rap, but they should not be decontextualized from the music. Much of the strenght of rap is in the expression: the way a rapper uses his voice and seeks to add layer to the production.
