What is this?
I have made a portfolio filled with data and concepts for a new multiplayer game for the 2006 version of the Source engine. I'm simply doing this for people to look over and consider starting a project with me. I am also doing this for instructive critism and ideas for different presentations.

You can download the .wpd file here. You should be able to decompile it in Microsoft Word or Open Officer Writer.

Please post below if you would like to join or point things out.

you wrote "capture the flag" then described the control point game mode of TF2.

Also the two teams sound too similar when said out loud - this will be confusing if there are any frantic sounding characters trying to explain story and the player thinks they're talking about the wrong team.

Why does the Hunter's Bow which does 45hp damage have a 12 second cooldown when the Long Bow which does 76hp damage has no cooldown? Also why does anything have a 12 second coolddown? That is genuinely ridiculous.

Why do weapons do a specific amount of damage? Surely a head-shot should count more than, say, an ankle-shot.

Why Source 2006? It's old and is no longer adequately supported.

Why are you once again suggesting the undertaking of a massive project when you barely have a single map under your belt?

The hunter's bow is more difficult to use, and is for lower classes to use, therefore also giving less damage.

Hasn't been recorded yet, but the headshots are automatic kills.

It's the only thing that my Hammer Editor can adequately support.

Is it even possible to use source 2006 for anything? I thought all the games [Which the mod would 'run off' of] moved to 2009 and would thus render any [2006 era] mod unplayable.

Dude, just stop. Go play outside, or work on some more test maps.

I think it's nice that Dimbark comes up with so many ideas and more importantly, he tries to organize them. That does not mean that if those ideas are not good he must stop making them. All this...

...will inhibit his creativity, really. Don't discourage him. Just show the negative points.
I can't open whatever he linked to(you should try making it a pdf not some obscure file type most of us won't work with in their lives), but I can tell he's trying to come up with some fun multiplayer game with RPG elements(at least that's how I'm explaining the cooldowns and such).

May I suggest changing the title? It's not really appropriate. I can't explain why, I just feel it's a weird title for a mp game.

I'm telling him to stop coming up with so much ideas, make more test maps to get a feel of the engine, then he can take on the project, because making up an idea and formulating it well is great, but he'll most likely dump the idea within a week or two.

Thank you for blocking my edit Joebama.

Wanted to add this:
Also, as Huntey wrote, it's nice coming up with plans of modsgames. Just don't get overexcited, you brought some ideas in the past and they weren't fructified. Archive them instead, you'll have something to look at in the future and reflect upon your own ideas, when it will be possible to really do some massive work(the kind of work that a modnew game involves).

Large Staff - A large staff
ORLY? Sorry, I couldn't help it.

Anyways, it sounds alright. If the king has a strategy view, though, that'd be too much like NS. Also, I think that the teams are too similar They should have different clothing, etc. And why do the classes within the same time all come from different places?

Also, guys, when I started out on HypernovA, I sucked. I was proud of two lines of really, really, basic code (model replacements). Now, I'm not that bad, honestly. If we give him encouragement, he can turn into a really good game developer. Maybe even as good as the rest of you guys.

I would suggest, though, a lot of practice. All my previous work on HypernovA was terrible, and, therefore, I'm remaking most of it. It's a lot of work. Just practice.
