(This is a raging rant)

Horrible!
First time playing any of the Fallout series, but man, are the designers fucking serious!

I called it quits after I was in a building going down 4 flights of stairs. at the bottom of all the stairs was a door. I opened the door, it loaded the outside world in which case, I somehow ended on the fucking buildings roof! WTF

Like that's a really big thing!

Animation sucked.. as in people who where talking to you where looking in the opposite direction, or there eyes would be looking in another direction.. I was like fuck you bitch, Im right fucking here!

My sniper rifle would not hold steady, and I had to shoot enemies in the head with it 3-4 times to finally kill them.

I admit it is a fairly old game, but come on!
Beginning was great. But once out of the Vault I got so frustrated.

Im sorry if your FallOut fans.

But it really pissed me off!

Fallout 3 is great, I've never had any issues or glitches with it whatsoever.

It's all part of the Bethesda charm.

I'll go with this excuse. Yeah the game is VERY tacky around the edges. But it's just so god damn fun and addictive.

Never had a problem with it, yeah, some things could be polished, but thats why you get unofficial Mods and patches.

It and New Vegas are right up there in my top 5 games of all time. There are quite a few bugs, but I think that the fact that it's incredibly fun and addictive despite this speaks volumes.

And then modding them is very user friendly, Want to make a Enclave Bunker only Containing a Assault Rifle that shoots Shotgun pellets that have 9000 damage per shot and Infinite ammo? Go ahead.

you are right. I played fallout 1/2/tactics before i played fallout 3 and i think 3 falls in quite well. if you play the previous titles, you'll get the overall idea of Fallout.
people that try to play it as a straight up action shooter don't like it, but its not meant to be played like that

Hmm.. yeah perhaps your right.. I've been playing blackops, singularity, Metro 2033, MassEffect, which are all flawless (Metro2033 by far my favorite)
I just expected more out of Fallout 3. :(

But I'm confused, is Fallout 3 the latest one, is this the new vegas one.. or what..? Or is Vegas another one.. I definetly should have starting from the first instead of jumping in..

I've never looked into the Fallout franchise.. well, to the point I have a wallpaper set to my startup screen, and when launched the game and seen the same pic, I was like, OOOooooh thats whats thats from.. lol

Not much of a gamer am I.. lol :D

Those games are MEANT to be Flawless, they are built to be PERFECT. They follow a set story, and Linear Game play. Fallout is an Open-world game where you can do almost what ever the hell you want, in whatever order you want.

Fallout 3 as well as Oblivion has a few "location" bugs in which generally the devs mixed up two or three entrances to an area. Sometimes you enter a building (or cave, in Oblivion) through the left door, but when the inside area is loaded, you are at the right door. It's confusing sometimes, but since they're not major experience killers I never paid much attention. Never came across that building you say (with the bottom door leading to the roof), though. Where is it?

As for the rifle, have you tried VATS? It shoots in your behalf :)
Posted 13 years ago2011-08-23 15:11:22 UTC Post #298322
Yeah VATS you have to do it about 3,4 times too and if you do vats with a sniper from a distance, it often misses... everything just turned me off from the game.

Hmmm, not sure where abouts it was, I think it was in a school, or hospital type of place with a bunch of those crazy people in it (bandits?)..

It was outside near the first city once out of the vault.

But yeah, creatures looked great, but the people you interact with animations were horrible. It should be more like Masseffect 2.

You should pick up Skyrim, if you crave some detailed characters.

It looks to be the first Bethesda title where every character doesn't have Bethesda-face the entire time.

Well, I love the game. It scored 91 on metacritic so apparently so did a lot of others. You are entitled to your opinion though, I'm sure every game has people that didn't enjoy it. In fact one of my friends said HL1 was bad...(he's wrong)

I have no clue how that happened, I've never run into that before...
Animation sucked.. as in people who where talking to you where looking in the opposite direction, or there eyes would be looking in another direction.. I was like fuck you bitch, Im right fucking here!
Facial animation and some of the dialoge-related anims could use work yes.
My sniper rifle would not hold steady, and I had to shoot enemies in the head with it 3-4 times to finally kill them.
It gets better (aiming and damage) when you invest a metric crapton of points into your guns skill. I usually go for the gun nut perk as well. It also takes less shots if you crouch and get a sneak-attack crit on them.

EDIT: I just remembered, it's also worth noting that the sight is slightly off (I still don't know if it was intentional) and fires a bit to the upper-right.
END EDIT

I'm sorry you didn't like your first playthrough, but I hope you'll give it another try sometime later, perhaps with some mods added.

The engine is dated by today's standards. Hell it was dated on release. Also, this is an RPG not an FPS. Of course your sniper rifle is inaccurate, you've never shot one before. You were born and raised in a vault. It's all about the XP and the perks you pick up. In New Vegas, I started out with sub-machine guns and pistols, thinking that was how I was going to play the entire thing. Now, I'm at level 35, I have 3 different caliber sniper rifles and I never EVER miss. :badass:

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are my current all time favourite games. It's just not for everybody I guess.

The one thing I dislike about Fallout 3/NV, is that the GECK tools really suck. I mean, they're powerful, they were used to create pretty much the entire game, but they can't see packaged content, they have a really bad interface, and they're unstable. the publicly available NV version makes it worse by disabling the ability to run the Havok sim on anything but corpses, meaning you can't even use the skeleton props, let alone have things like weapons be flat on uneven ground without major effort.

Hopefully Skyrim will fix this.
