Taylor is simply my family name translated to English. It was one of my nicknames at late-night college Counter-Strike and Unreal Tournament matches, along with Mr. Weaver and a ton of other retarded names we came up after a few beers. Taylor seemed more adaquate than say, Lady Pussy Juice Blues.

Previously, I was also known as Masta Killa, which I used at LAN parties in elementary school. At the age of 14, I thought it sounded cool and didn't bother to come up with something else for a few years to come.

If anyone has seen AKIRA they would know where Tetsuo comes from.
But it's SO much more than that.
In high-school my clique of friends were all into the Japanese culture, naturally we all had chosen Janaese Aliases. In seeing and loving the movie Akira, i chose Tetsuo as my first name and Sho as my last name.
Sho is roughly translated to "child of light", but i never got a meaning for Tetsuo. Still it stuck. so i go by Tetsuo on most sites, and if it's taken, I'll go by Tetsuo Sho.

I still love the Japanese culture, well the older Japanese culture... not so much ninjas and samauri's but just the whole... Honor and Respect thing. It's great.

For some history:

My first online alias was Suicide Sniper. I loved nothing more than scoring headshots from afar- unless i was scoring headshots point blank. When i was young i had a Terrible strategy for playing games. I'd take the biggest gun and go rambo. It did teach me how to stay alive for a while and got my reflexes up pretty quickly.

I went with OMGitsBRETT for a quick minute playing starcraft

More recently i have used the name Bogus Bagels in world of tanks.
I used to say "that's bogus" and somehow i just tossed the word bagel at the end.
Why not.

Some other random named i've used:
I'm_Ethereal
Akira_Rox

That could be a huge underground band name.
My friend came up with that, who also incidentally writes hilarious biker metal songs. Good call :D

The origin's of my name started back in high school. For my Business class, our teacher chose nicknames for us, so that only we would know what our grades are when he posted them (btw, failed. No one kept their name to themselves). Knowing that I played Magic: The Gathering, and having played in the past himself, he gave me the nickname Tawnos, a character from the earlier days of the game.

I used that name for quite a couple of years after that, until I unfortunately became locked out of that Battle.NET account, because I forgot it's password, and the password to the old e-mail account I had been using at the time. Not wanting to abandon the name completely 'cause I liked it, I decided to add onto it and keep using it. I don't remember specifically how I chose Prime, but that was when I started going by TawnosPrime.

i was reading a magazine once and in letters to the editor some called themself "8t8" and i thought "eight... tee.. eight? 88? like the number but pronoucned differently"

and so came NineTnine. once confused as "Ninethrine" often referenced as "99"

I just liked the number. I was in grade 7 or 8 when I did it.

I always thought yours was NineTrine, until I actually looked closely at it one day :P

Well when I was young I use to go as G-Man, which was based on two factors: Obviously G-Man from Half-Life, and the first letter of my name.

So when I made my first online account at 11 (other than Steam/Gamespy) the name was of course taken, so I came up with TheCoolGman, a terrible name that haunted me for many years. I honestly have no idea what I was thinking when I made it...

My current (and probably last) alias I got from Bio class. We were learning about plant functions/life and Xylem was one of our vocabulary words. I simply thought it sounded like a great name and it's definition has noting to do with me or anything I do in reality.

My first name was obviously 'Sniper', which is 90% of all gamers first name. I only needed a name due to playing my first online game CS.

I then decided that 'Sniper' was usually associated with try-hard scumbags so, I moved onto 'Custom' (custom maps) because of my sudden massive interest in mapping having discovered Worldcraft.

After that, I eventually figured the name was all too generic. So I moved onto Moabathon/Moabinkez which nobody in the world is going to have duplicated or thought of beforehand. The name(s) being short for Moab because of my interest in MOBA games at the time; double meaning too. Moab being a anagram for MOBA, and the popular term for killing someone instantly on a MOBA game is nuking...Mother Of All Bombs, similar subject area right? Anyway, people started nick-naming me Moaby and it just kind of stuck.

I like how Steam does it where you can have a unique name, and then a non-unique nickname that is shown to everyone. With nicknames people can be as unoriginal as they want, and the chances that they will run into someone with the same name are still quite low. :P

Speaking of unoriginality I stole my name. I used to play TFC under several random names because I couldn't decide on one. I saw TheGrimReafer in a game of TFC and stole it because I thought it was funny at the time. I'm really not sure why I held onto it.

I think my earliest earliest name was probably bckstabber though. The missing a was intentional after a name conflict, heh. I chose it after my preference of sneaky gameplay tactics and "backstabbing".

Popular in the same sense that the bubonic plague was popular maybe.
