Im thinking CS:GO, HL2:DM or something, i know there arent a load of community maps for them, but we could just have a good time blasting each other on some standard ones as well.

So with the holidays not far away, i remembered having a good time in the last x-mas retro map tourney. Why don't we start thinking about what could we do this x-mas ?

A MotM-winner-only tourney spanned across multiple days on HLDM, CS 1.6, CS Source, TF2 and Flat-Life Multiplayer! ~20 maps in total. Same frag/ticket system we've used for the previous tournaments. I'll pitch in for the prizes.
This would also provide a unique opportunity for different continents to host & level the playing field, as opposed to the usual EU-based slaughter.

CS 1.6: 6 maps
HLDM: more than enough
CSS & TF2: 1 map each
We can move css, tf2 and flat-life into the same day thus having a 3 day tourney with cs and hldm with their own days.
Who would be interested in hosting a US based server for any of these games?
How about the date, does the weekend before x-mas work ?

it's funny, that lately we are all gung ho about having coops/compos, and many times have prize money and games, but it nobody participates lately(myself included).
can we make this a mapping competiton as well, and frag each other on our new maps?
maybe you could have prizes both for the top-three maps and fraggers. also for the mapping component, perhaps make it community voting so all the mods can participate?

I think if we're going to be giving out prizes we would need to decide on a single game which the majority of members have, otherwise someone who has only half the games somone else does they're already at a disadvantage.

Say for example it came down to Half-Life, TF2 and CS:GO.
I could get 100 kills in Half-Life and be the overall winner, then when everyone switches to TF2 and then CS:GO their tickets keep climbing and I stay at 100...
Also, is Slenderman scary now? Fair enough...

i would love to see an xmas themed, community-submitted map competition and fragfest. alternatively maybe, if the person entering didn't want to build a map, they could perhaps choose a map they'd like to see in the mix?
As far as gametype/engine, i don't really know what would be best, and/or if you should have multiple games or just keep it to one...

Regarding he thread, I think the best option would be a category for each game. Choose the games based on a vote on the front page (You can do that, right?), and select the ones that the most people have. Then when the game pool is official, whoever wants to can create a map for whatever game they want, be it a game outside the pool; it doesn't have to be part of the competitions.

I like most of the idea's put out so far. As long as there's some HLDM involved I'd love to join. Maybe however, separate compos and prizes for different games. So that anyone who doesn't have a game doesn't miss out.
