The lightning is somewhat blend and repetitious for my taste. Also there are some texture alignment issues on the last screenshot.

Thanks for the great input!

@ Cap - sure! Just a single or dual booster rocket, thin about 1500 tall by 700 at the widest point on the stabilizers/wings. Wide enough to accompany 2 player entities in the capsule comfortably. Does not need to be func.

uhm..... i think barnacles like darker places where they are easily hidden. also, knock some of the lighting down a bit.

It is very high in wpoly and i know your maps are tight fps-wise, so i can make you something simpler if necessary ;)

how did you make sea like that? its vanilla goldsrc or modded?, when I make a sea, you can see the edge of the map so I think its huge..

yep its just a skybox. there are no water brushes at all for the ocean. it's all just sky. and it looks really good in game. you cant tell where the ocean starts and the sky begins unless you noclip around to see the building floating in the middle of nowhere :)

The Apache turned out a lot better than I expected, It's all thanks to my great tutor in my 3D modelling module in Uni, and my college tutors for getting me started.
The model was made in Maya, textured with Photoshop and crazybump, and imported into UDK.
From now on I'm going to be making Source and Unreal Editor levels with only custom made content, I'd already released this: http://gamebanana.com/csgo/maps/168954
Which had a lot of custom textures by me, but In the future it's only custom. Maybe if there's a gamebanana mapping competition I'd participate in it.

My next level is going to be a Gothic Cathedral, here's a WIP: (Maya)

My Tutor for 3D was actually quite surprised at my standard of work, I'm the best in the class. It's all thanks to you guys, even though you all harassed me and banned me so many times, I'm still thankful for everything you guys have taught me.

i REALLY hope HL3 is easier to import models into than stupid HL2
because i've almost moved to UDK myself.

Thaks guys. CT, nope, that's UnrealEd2, unstable as hell but still fun to mess with :) That's my last brush-based map for sure, Skals screenshots made me feel jealous... In a good way :) Time for some polygons I suppose :)

Wow what happened at A? Someone got stabbed fifty times and then their body dragged in a circle and X shape around the pavement? Then later someone else parked a cop car, a regular car, and a forklift on top the blood not giving a shit about the 20 gallons of blood? Or all those people didn't notice?

But in all seriousness, this is probably one of the better looking things you've posted, so you're improving as usual which is good. Probably up to par with my mapping at this point, lol(ignoring that ridiculously large red X on the ground). Keep it up kid.

Why don't you use the latest UDK? You could make some really awesome maps with it, not to say your current aren't, they're just outdated.

That's true, Skals... I don't know really :) Just wanted to mess with it a bit, bring some memories from school ages playing UT99 on LAN. As mentioned ealier, that's my last brush based map. I have been told to move on to UDK a lot, I guess I don't really have a say and choice now :)

I really like the texture too, although the windows might need some re-kerjiggering.

I am impressed by Instant Mix and his entity work.

As always, noSick's screenshots makeme wish I had a direct link to his mapping ability.

And I like IngSoc. As always, it has a very Half-Life like feel to it while being obviously not Half-Life.

Dimbark, those screens are very impressive good sir! you should maybe watch the end of casino royale and map that building in venice that collapses when the flotation bags are shot out, but it's a great movie to watch regardless.. you have a name for the map yet?

Also btw, will someone explain the allure of minecraft? It is very interesting some of the mega objects and cities, etc, but seriouly, why minecraft?

The only screenshot that even looks vaguely similar to D2 is the second one, and that doesn't even resemble underpass\mid that much.

Looks pretty good dimbark, all I'd change is those lightly-colored stones lining every edge of the building. They don't really match up with the texture and look very out of place.

CT: The fun and allure of minecraft is something that I find hard to put into words. So I'm going to paraphrase other people I've discussed the topic with:

It's pure creativity. It's like an infinite lego set where you can always find the right piece. You can dig down to the bottom of the earth, or build a tower in the heavens.

Also, it's hella cheap compared to most other sandbox games and there are tons of mods for it.

Dimbark you need to learn to use Displacements, the building on the left in second screenshot looks horrible. Plus all the buildings seem to be very repetitive. Other than that it's quite nice. Better than your previous map.

Minecraft lost its appeal to me a long time ago sadly. The overall monotony killed it for me. I'm sure it's still fun to play online, but singleplayer just feels so... well, lonely.

I'm working in cahoots with some guys on this to improve the singleplayer experience. Its gone no where in a long time and nothing new has been created for it... I'm worried its going to die.
