I have an example map called "simple sunlight" where I have a window with a "skybox" that contains a light_spot in it, with it targeted to an info_target inside the room. Once you look at this example map, and notice the comments under it, you'll see what was suggested.

For some reason the one suggestion isn't working...

If anyone can shed some "light" on this problem you know I'd be appreciative, as this is my first example map ever and I refuse to give up on such a simple problem hehe.

light_environment must be set up correctly. I guess you have it cast light in another direction so no sunlight falls into the room. Play around with the little compass in it's properties box, and experiment with different 'pitch' value's (-90 is down, 90 is up).

All skybrushes will cast light as if they were this light_environment. So all sky lighting will go the same direction, has the same color and intensity.

or use the fade texture from the halflife.wad and make a truly impressive sunbeam

His problem is with the lighting. A fade without a light-spot on the floor is kinda... fake...

I find that the fade texture is very hard to work with, changing the angles, lining the edges up and everything--Maybe its cause i tried this with a cylinder, for a spotlight...

I also tried the tut at "snarkpit.com" On window lights, but it was very complicated, well, I just could'nt make it look right, go check it out.
It looks cool, but hard to make it look like the picture.

do people around here read the first post? it states that he used a targetted light_spot and info_target, in the first post.

have you tried placing the light spot inside the window frame (directly in the middle, from all angles) i don't know if this would give you the usual circle spot, but try it anyway (as opposed to having it outside).

the fade was just a suggestion ;)

and also, fade is extremely easy to use, seriously. ever heard of vertex manipulation?

The pictures are extremely too big, everyone's post is too wide, have to use the scroll button to read it.
