Well, i think having an void barrier is actually an great idea.
Because the overall world shouldn't be too large.

Thats why i said at least 4x TWHL world (which was 2000 meters i think).

I stopped playing a while ago, but this new update sounds pretty pimp... Might be time to update again. Might even start doing my youtube diary again, but on the server to keep things more interesting. Or what about TWHL Minecraft parody news bulletins? Wander the server, find out what people are up to, etc.

Any of you guys watch any of the Mindcrackers (Youtubers)? They have a thing called Death Games, its pretty much a rig that produces a name which is marked for death. But it can be cleared by hitting a button. Its a pretty cool thing, we should try that, it'd make it interesting.

Can you randomly spawn villages or fortresses with mobs around the map?
Or make it like so that at night mobs attack our town.

On the server, making my own hut not much far away (till we decide how to make twhl town), will bring back some supplies to the spawn hut :)

It IS on hard mode. Let me check server.properties to make sure.

Yup, it's on hard mode.
Also, mobGriefing is off and keepInventory is on.

However, there is this setting:
# Tells the server to load a specific number of chunks in a radius around each player
# Lower settings will decrease your RAM usage
# Values under 10 will significantly reduce hostile mob spawn rates.
view-distance=7
Should I t-t-t-t-turn it up to 10? Or 9? Or 8?

Why yes, Atom I was on the MindCrack Marathon Server XD For nearly the whole 48+ hours. I think I got a total of 3hrs sleep that weekend.

I tried 10 and higher, waiting for it to load the chunks is annoying as hell.
I see trough terrain and mountains. So i reduced it to 8.

Also its on hard?!? What the hell? I saw like 1 skeleton and like 3 zombies 3 hours in the game, and i was on level Y 7 in complete darkness for quite some time.

That's just your local render distance that you can set in video settings. I'm talking about the view-distance setting in the server.properties file. Increasing that should allow more mobs to spawn around the player.

Let me just increase that to 10 and see what happens.

@LaVolpe. Did you also got on the creative 1 server and build something on your plot? I did, then it got wiped due to a server reset. Balls.

OK, sounds cool.
I made an small sand farm near spawn, it houses 6x8 fields. Currently growing sugar canes.

Also will occasionally drop items and materials into Stojke-Sama supply chest. Its inside the poor mans shelter at spawn.

New World is pretty awesome! Lacks trees though (forest).
Made my home on top of a mountain. Currently collecting wood and stone.

keeping the server running for several days adds up to a lot of endermen damage in the terrain.

game crippling glitch. it's happening to a bunch of people so far and there is no fix. i think it has something to do with the resource packs system. when i cleared mine, it was fixed for about 5 seconds.

Dude that sucks. I ran it just fine. Hopefully they'll release a fix for it so you can join us.

I'd like to make a formal request here to Stojke and Nina to please stop taking ALL the sand there is and leaving behind unsightly holes all over the place. I fell in a few already. If you want to take the sand, at least refill the pits with dirt. If you want to take ALL of it, take it from the far lands or something.

I'm asking with plenty of time in advance so that what happened in the last world doesn't happen again. It ruined all the beaches and depleted all the sand from the world, leaving none for anyone else that needed some.

Yeah, if you're planning to obtain resources in large quantities... to put it simply, fuck right off. To somewhere a nice long distance away, then get it. No-one wants a world full of holes where they have to hunt down something as basic as SAND.

So what you're saying - Go far far away so all of us can take the sand from close because we don't want to go far far away.

I will only get the sand from the desert from now on. And if some one complains, i don't care.
If its that much trouble for every one that some one likes to gather than build first, i will not be sharing anything from now on.
Who ever needs something will have to ask first, taking with out asking is prohibited.
Found a beach at 1200 / 700
Found a village at 1550 / 1200
Snow biome is right next to it.

Day 10: I have stumble upon a canopy biome out to the East, I'm relucant to travel into it, but the promise of Dark Oak Wood is too great.

Day 17: I have retrieved a sapling for a exotic tree farm for spawn.

Day 18: I have discovered rooftop travel is the easiest for these biomes, but my food is getting short from all the jumping.

Day 40: Finally escaped the prison of the canopy biome, I was estatic to see grassland, and beyond it a savanna.
Upon further investigation I stumble into a village just in time to rest. I shall collect Acacia sapplings in the morning. Right now I must protect the good trades from Zombifying. I shall continue my mission in the morning.

Day 41: Ran out of food today.

Day 43: Chicken the food of the gods. To say I enjoyed them is an understatement, they kept me going for yet another day.

Day 44: I FOUND IT! The thing I have been searching for! A desert! In particular a Cacti! Praise the gods! I shall sacrifice myself in there honour!
But before that I shal glance into the distance.
And of course there is a village.

Day 45: The villagers here have gone wild their population booming beyond belief. But that is not the shocking thing, less the 100 blocks away was a temple. I hope its not the trapped chest kind.

Diamonds! 6 in one chest. Now the god are calling. TNT will satisify them, me thinks.

How about if you want sand, go to a desert. We have those now.

Also, nether portals will be made to be convenient. I need to test to see if the old accurate portal exploits still work or if they are fixed.

Made some building space around spawn. Spawn protection is on so I can't dig up that one chunk.

I have increased view-distance even more, mobs should spawn more frequently now.

I have also added spawn-protection 0 to the properties, to decrease the protected area around spawn. This does not disable spawn protection completely though, it just decreases it. A value of 0 means only 1 block (the actual block people spawned on) will be protected.

Got quite a lot of area cleaned up. I'll be working on a cobble generator and a starting tree farm. Get some stone and wood for people to use.
