When i run the game, i see the 'Preparing to play Counter-Strike' msg, then im in steam, then directly it closes steam again.

yea ive also got a problem....its just that uhhh i cant it to be a BSP file. during all the other compiling stage s it runs like its suppose to. but when it gets to the bsp it comes up with this

Ydeeps: try starting a game conventionally within Steam. If that still doesn't work, upload your RMF and BSP to the Map Vault (see the left). Post on this thread when you've done so and someone'll have a look.

kamikaze: Post the whole compile log. The BSP is not produced if critical errors occur during compiling. Just the fact that the BSP didn't exist doesn't help much.

Move your RMFs to a simpler directory like c:maps or e:hlmappingmaps. Avoid Steam directories, the "@" sign confuses a lot of programs.

o yea and thnx for helpin me out.....ive made lots of maps i just cant get them to compile....i use steam and it makes it hard to find tutorials

Oh, wait, sorry. I'm tired and missed the log entry. Check your compile settings, they must be messed up somewhere. If you're still stuck, post, but I'm going to bed now. Someone'll help at some point :)

Nothing wrong with the picture for me... maybe because Dutch people can see Dutch people's pictures? :P

Ydeeps, shouldn't the game executable be in the half-life folder instead of the counter-strike folder? I don't use Steam but this looks suspicious to me, as without Steam the executable is in the half-life folder...

hmm, still same prob, but ty P, normally i don't map with steam, but since i have no normal counter-strike anymore, only steam counter-strike, and i like 1.6, i wanted to make a steam cs 1.6 map, so i am giving it a try :P

It seems something in the map causes an error so Steam closes. Maybe if you post your map in the Problem maps section of the Vault we can figure it out...

I don't even get that far that I am IN the map, it doesn't even load the map, u know the 'Preparing to play Half-Life' screen, then after it, it starts steam, when in steam it's going to load the map.
The problem is after it loaded steam, it goes out again, before I even see the maploading. :(

Go into Steam, go to the console and try to start your map straight from that. You've already compiled the map, the map is in the right place (a thing you may want to check first), so it should run from the console. If Steam just closes, I think something in your map is causing it instead of a wrong compile.

using Batch Compiler, under Specifications: check Bare Zoners

on the far right of Batch, you should have:
CSG --should be ticked
BSP --should be ticked
VIS --should be ticked
RAD --should be ticked
HL --must NOT be ticked

this will stop HL running and trying to run a cs map.

use New Game in CS steam to choose your map.

there is no difference in steam and 1.5 maps. except steam has new .dll's that allow model transparency (for trees etc)

the map .bsp must be in counter strike/cstrike/maps.

use No WAD Textures under the BSP Clipboard in Batch. therefore no .wads to move about all over the place.

if non of that works you are a retard and should have submitted the .rmf days ago ;)

And i started with a cube, close cube, with 4 spawn points, 2 T and 2 CT's and a buyzone and a light, thats all, shoulnd't be a problem in that, and then i had the problem too.

My translation of the error: "The instruction on 0x0ad25969 refers to memory on 0x0afcc6d0. The read- or writeoperation on the memory failed."

Indeed very strange... Can you post the map in the Problem maps section of the Vault so we can take a look? Maybe we can find what's wrong...

I've downloaded CS 1.5 (not steam-version, altough i dont know if it exists :D), im going to configurate it to that (good old time), then ill make my map that way, and when im done i might need a tuturial to make it a cs 1.6 map :P.
