I was recently following "In the beginning" and loaded up the .rmf file for itb5 but it seemed to have props.

Where can I add the Usable items category to my own map? How do I go by doing this?

Thank you all,

sh

What props are you referring to, specifically?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you talking about prefabs? You can make your own.

Not prefabs. In The Beginning Part 5 it is shown to use Usable Objects. Where can I find all those models? Where can I import them?

Is In The Beginning a mod? Do you have a link?

There will be a models folder within the mod directory which will contain all the models they use.

Ah, OK. Those are prefabs. The original prefabs don't come with later versions of Hammer, but you can get them here. DOWNLOAD

Stick the "prefabs" folder in your "Hammer" directory and they should then appear in the editor.

Why are they not originally selectable in the Hammer Editor? It doesn't make any sense to me. How can you add CUSTOM prefabs or models? Any tutorials on this?

Thank you by the way.

They were included with the original Worldcraft 2.1 installation and were present up to and including Hammer 3.0. I guess they forgot to package the files with later versions, or simply thought that nobody was using prefabs at that point. It is good practice to make your own these days.

As for adding custom prefabs, you can make your own as I said. I'm not sure if people are still releasing packs but back in the early 2000's you'd get them on demo disks and all sorts. Sadly there's not much call for it these days as far as I know.

I'm surprised there's no tutorial on the Prefab Factory! I use it all the time. It's a lot better to have one .ol file containing the prefabs rather than a million .map files.
