I tried getting my masked texture to cast shadow but was unable to do so.

Trempler advised how but maybe i'm doing something wrong. Can anyone explain anything I might be missing?

I just set the masked texture (func_illusionary) ZHLT settings to opaque (blocks light). Doesn't seem to work.

Thanks.

Yes. I also downloaded the latest ones I could find.

What's the scale of the texture you're casting your shadow onto? It might just not be a high enough resolution lightmap.

Edit, scaling didn't seem to help. I tried just about everything I could think of.

They were scaled at 1X. I'll try scaling them down when I get home tonight.

Hmm. Try compiling this with your current compile settings to see if it's a compiler/tools issue.

My result:

Oh, does this only work with the spot light entity? And not texture lighting?

Nope, texture lighting works for me:

Well, I set Light Flags to "Opaque + Concave Fix" almost always :P
I rarely use "Opaque (Blocks Light)".

What are you talking about? LOOK at those smexy, flexy shadows! MAN.... if I could compile that on my laptop...

Also, try -notexscale -texchop 8 -chop 16 -extra in the HLRAD compile parameters :3

the smaller light source is the sharper will be the shadows, light_spot is the most effective because of its 0 size and the small amount of ambient light it creates
