Alright guys. I think it's about time we got some general discussion up in this bitch!

So, pitch your dream game. The game that you are praying / waiting for.

And no, I don't just mean "HL3!"... I mean pitch a game that you want to play. Hell if HL3 is the only thing you want, explain why. What do you want to get out of the experience of playing the third instalment of the Half-Life series?
For me, I'm all about role play. I love the Bethesda RPGs like Skyrim and Fallout 4, but they do not scratch the RPG itch all that well. More recently I've been getting into CRPGs like Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny, both by Obsidian. Coincidentally, Obsidian also developed Fallout: New Vegas, my all time favourite entry in the series.

It's also a big deal for me to be able to customise as much as possible. My characters appearance, my gear, my stronghold. Games like GTA:Online and again, Fallout 4 allow an obsessive amount of tweaking to the smallest things when making your character. Things that nobody else is ever going to see up close.

On the other hand, I love playing Co-op / Team with the SnC guys. Even the absolute worst, bug riddled titles that would be an absolute cringe fest in single player become utterly hilarious with friends at your side
My ultimate dream game would be an open world, fantasy RPG, which allows for coop play. Not an MMO, but a story driven world that I can enjoy with a handful of friends, or on my own. Ultimately it would offer the most customisation possible, so that my character and my gear would vary greatly in both appearance and statistics to that of my friends, catering to my specific play style. It would also be story driven, with meaningful choices that can be made along the way, affecting me as a player and the world around me.

With a decent, physics based combat system as seen in games such as Dying Light, I can imagine one buddy charging in with a great sword, knocking foes around while another is throwing spells left and right, healing allies and decimating foes.

That, would be absolute gaming bliss for me.

My dream game would be a game with great replayability, lots of content and which is super easy to create custom content for. The quality of the custom content would depend only on your imagination. Half-Life would be such a game but creating something other than maps for it isn't that easy, and original HL doesn't have a lot of levels, NPCs and gameplay features.

My dream game would probably be like this down here.
Let's see some characteristics from these games:

Grand Theft Auto 5. Ragdoll physics, a lot of stuff to do, big open-world map (not SO big, but still...) and you've got 3 characters to play with.

The ragdolls - I'd spend hours pushing people just to see how they tumble down a mountain, lol. Poor NPCs. :(
More than 1 character to control - I don't know, this seems like Lego Star Wars all over again...

Next up: Crysis
You can pick up turtles, boxes, crates, barrels, grab people and throw them.
And, the thing which makes it not a generic shooter is the nano suit. It's cool. :)
Getting a nano suit equivalent (in my dream game) during a level in the second half of the campaign could be thought of. After finishing that mission, the nano suit can be left in a closet or something, and could also be re-used later.

And, of course, I'd love to experience mapping for the game. I'm a mapper and I'd gladly map for that game.

Then, something with a nice addon system + the Workshop integration (a good example of this is GMod) wouldn't hurt either.

Also, a good deal would be having a singleplayer campaign, and a multiplayer with co-op missions included (as well as being able to create co-op maps).

Now, the game's genre would be along the lines of first-person shooters. I'm saying that because it wouldn't be a 100% shooter game. Hmm, maybe something like a mix of GTA and GMod but without the crime, the adult content, the Physgun and the Tool Gun.

Regarding adult content I meant sexualised stuff etc.
I'm fine with violence, lol.

Now, the character design. I'd love to see furries co-existing with humans there, haha. Don't call me a furry, I just like the concept of anthropomorphic animals and maybe a few more things about them.

And the story would be set in the near future (10 to 20 years from now).
Also, since the furries would be there, an alternate history to it would have a purpose. :)
Valve's way of telling stories would also be nice instead of cutscenes.

So, that's how I imagine my dream game. I might have left out some things but I think that this is enough info.

My tastes are eclectic enough that I don't think I could nail down any one game, or even genre. I've enjoyed so much from so many completely different types of games that it's... just too hard.
I feel like the only real way I could ever really harness what I truly want from a game is to make one myself. Indeed, I have the will and more than one workable idea, but I just don't know where to start. I've got enough programming knowledge that I could probably work logic things out once I've got the basics sorted, but it really is how to get something up on a screen at all that has been my major roadblock.

(Also, of course I want HL3. I've been escorting a friend through the Half-Life series via Sven Coop and Synergy, and I'm remembering just how much they've set up for a final arc, how much I'd like closure on.)

There's a difference between a furry and an anthropomorphic animal, Admer. The Khajiit, for example, are a feline/human hybrid race. The term 'furry' refers to the sexual fetish.

It'll be no surprise that my gameplay tastes are pretty similar to Urby's. My dream game would have the customisation of a hardcore RPG, but none of the grind. Co-op is a must. I got so excited for the idea of TES:Online before it wound up being an MMO. I basically just want Ghost Recon: Wildlands, but as an FPSRPG and with a world as rich as Bethesda's. Lose all the fetch quests and filler content, and just make it an awesome world to explore with 1-4 people.

I'm also a sucker for base building and testing your hand-crafted defenses against AI.
I definitely prefer Human vs AI combat these days. I find myself getting fatigued by Battlefield 1 and R6:Siege after only a few games. It just gets boring trying to compete against kids who don't have lives and jobs and can just play for 12 hours a day :P

Finally, I'd love an RTS that was basically CoH done way better. CoH2 was a real damp squib. So was DoW2. Fingers crossed for DoW3.

@Archie
I thought that "furry" as a noun refers to either the ones who are into it, or the anthropomorphic animals depending on the context. :/

Edit:
Big facepalm for me, I rushed and originally wrote @Urby instead of @Archie. Lol.

Imagine if you combined Dwarf Fortress, Plague Inc, Slime Rancher, Town of Salem, The Thing, System Shock, Space Engineers, Call of Cthulu, Colonial Marines, Aardwolf, DarkRP, and Stardew Valley. Oh wait, that already exists.

I really miss the classic turn-based combat JRPGs of the past. The classic Final Fantasy games nailed it, and it just hasn't been the same ever since. I guess my dream game would be if they made a turn-based game in the modern day, perfected it and added a lot more depth to it rather than having depth build up slowly over the course of the game, with great graphics, a story I can connect with.

It also wouldn't hurt to try this gamemode with some multiplayer, either. If you look at a game like Final Fantasy X, its robust combat system would be perfect for some PVP type of fun. This could work with a Dark Souls type system, where one of your random encounters is another player who has invaded you.

I was really excited for the Final Fantasy VII remake when they announced it, but now that they've showed that it's not revamping the turn-based combat, my interest has kind of waned. What a shame.

Did you ever try Penny Arcade's Precipice of Darkness? They're surprisingly good Final Fantasy-alikes. You might like 'em.

Actually, if we're talking dreams and games, what I would like most is a periphery to games: I would like some way to forget everything I know about any given puzzle game. I love the hell out of Talos Principle and The Witness, but those kinds of games are impossible to replay with the same feeling of exploration, because you know exactly how things work and where things are.

Takes notes

My dream game would be a sandbox game a lot like minecraft but combine it with that Euclidean Unlimited Detail engine and just go. I actually really prefer more peaceful games, or team games versus a computer opponent.

A pipe dream game would be a new modern version of Blast Corps for the N64 with online multiplayer and a level editor so there's endless levels.

I also love platformers, like Metroid and Megaman, and I'm basically making my dream platformer right now. :)

@jessie - SMJ has a New Game Plus mode, and I fully realize that starting a new game with existing abilities and knowledge trivializes a lot. So I wrote a script to swap rooms with different or harder versions to compensate this. Also, enemies will be tougher and items will be of a higher grade.

It would be nice to have a story driven FPS WW2 game sort of in the same vein of cod1 or MOH but where you get to be on the German side for once. I really liked the German campaigns in the original Company of Heros because it was such an interesting perspective! But that was RTS and not FPS.

Or I remember in the original Operation Flashpoint where a lot of early missions were about retreating, or 'losing' a fight because you were fighting a stronger force. I haven't really seen that done much in games like that.
I also like exploring the themes on the nature of war, the 'why am I doing this' not the 'what am I doing' sort of like in Spec Ops: the Line.

In terms of RPGs I really liked ones like Morrowind because they made you think a bit more about how to reach objectives (ie instead of having map markers you had to read a journal) and the lore was super deep but it wasn't forced - you could explore the reasons of the world as much or little as you wanted

Resident Evil - Outbreak File #2 remake.
Delta Force 2 remake.
Crimson Skies Remake.
Luftwaffe Commanders.

Twiste...Oh wait, they made Twisted Metal a while ago, nevermind.

Mostly due to those being very old games with sentimental and so much personal value to me. Dad having bought them for me and them being my childhood games.

Edit: I have the whole Medal of Honor Collection for the PS2 and their CD's. MoH was and still is the bomb for me.

I love atmosphere, immersion, challenges and interactivity in games.

Dark Souls 3 is great example of this, with great atmosphere and somewhat immersive world, while being a great challenge (I soloed on final boss with BKUGS, full BK set and fully loaded pyromancies - had to repeat more than 50 times). It was a bit lacking in interactivity, but breakables and occasional lever/switch did the job for me.

Morrowind is really great game combining all of the above factors - it is extremely immersive, has just perfect atmosphere of being stranded in weird, almost alien world. Interactivity was done mostly through scripts, but it was varied and entertaining. Also, early levels provide a good challenge for some builds.

As far as interactivity goes, I loved being able to pick up and throw objects in Half-Life 2, also gravity gun and (really simple) physics puzzles. Interactive panels, GUIs on weapons and PDA just rocked in Doom 3.

Damn, I could go on and on with games like Blood (gothic or world war 1 era atmosphere, challenge - Deathmask style, interactivity - kicking zombie heads, playing piano, one-liners when using objcts) or S.T.A.L.K.E.R series (being stuck in the zone, A-Life, creepy labs).

I also like simple, competitive games, like World of Tanks. Speaking of which:
