Ya dang lucky US peoples you.

In case you Muricans don't know, on Monday, August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will be visible within a band across the entire contiguous United States:

If you live near the path of totality, go outside and witness this unique celestial event. If you can, snap pictures and/or video of the event and post them here in this thread for everyone to gaze upon.
Remember, never look directly at the sun, not even during the eclipse or you could damage to your eyes. Use special viewing equipment such as eclipse glasses.

For more info, click here (nasa.gov)

Enjoy the event!

I feel like an eclipse is something I wouldn't travel to see, but would look at if visible from my house.

But I don't live up there anyway, so moot at present.

My friend in SC lives right in the middle of its path. I expect lots of photos from her. If only she knew anything about photography.

It's safe to look at the eclipse at 100% totality (and ONLY 100%). Any other point during the eclipse when any little part of the face of the sun is visible it is NOT safe to look at directly.

I unfortunately do not have the money to head south towards the path of totality, so I will have to settle for seeing the 69% peak coverage at work in New Hampshire. I bought eclipse glasses a month ago and avoided the ridiculous crazyness going on now to try and obtain properly rated glasses.

I'm really interested in seeing videos from mountains. I know of at least 1 Youtuber who wants to try and capture video from atop a mountain of the moons shadow racing across the landscape towards him and then racing away again.

So glad I moved from CT to FL I'll see 90% at work tomorrow.

Do post the videos when they're up!

I'm right in the path to see it completely, (in Missouri). Literally the only good thing I can think of this place.

I'm around the 70% coverage zone, waiting for it to start to get dark. It'll probably be around half an hour until the moon arrives here.

EDIT:
Well, I learned two things today. Number one, the pond near residence at my university has fish. Judging by the size of some of them, they've been there for quite some time. Who knew?
Number two, that was 70% coverage? The moon ain't got shit! I didn't even notice it getting darker! A goddamn cloud would have cast a better shadow!
I want my money back.

I have saved this post for prosperity.

Sorry, SSB, but that was incomprehensible. The "funny" aspect of the story is completely lost in translation (albeit making it really funny in an entirely different way).

@SSB, YOUR IMAGE IS NOT ACCESSIBLE!!!
It fails to meet the WCAG Success Criterion 1.1.1 and the WCAG Success Criterion 1.4.5.

(sorry, my web development internship is driving me crazy :P)

So, did anyone here snapped pics?

You cheat! That's not your shadow!

How about we all chip in and sign SSB up for an English course. I consider myself fairly proficient at guessing what non-native speakers are trying to say, but I barely ever understand what he's saying.

I think SSC means his story involves Trump shooting the moon during the eclipse but after he shoots it a ricochet of the moon comes down to Earth and hits him. Its set up is similar to a cartoon in the vein of The Simpsons.

But SSC is concerned people don't understand his joke and if the image was not accessible here you could also find it on his Twitter which you can get to by searching his real name (not his TWHL username).

But I understand his joke.

After that explanation I kind of get it.
