I have come to this decision, was thinking to change from youtube to something elsr, since youtube is going downhill since 2017 or earlier, what do you all think it would be the best?

Depends on what side you are on.
If you are not a creator then probably there isn't much anything you can do about it besides not going on YT.

Fact of the matter is, YouTube is the top pick for viewers currently and something quite drastic would need to occur in order to change that. Same way Google has become a general term for searching online, despite the vast number of search engines. The same way that Twitch is now the place to go for streams (though YouTube has a fairly big slice of this action as well)

I know that artists are getting shafted left and right and a lot of them now depend on Patreon to make an income. I've heard of other services pop up such as GorillaGong for machinima videos, but can't say I've ever checked them out for any length of time. However, for those not making a living off of it, YouTube is probably still the place to go.

Vimeo I've only ever seen used by our clients at work to host videos that are then embedded on their websites/product pages. I can't say I've ever followed anyone on Vimeo.

Probably you are right, still dunno tbh, I'm used to youtube but yet again there are people who leave it because copyright claim system is utterly shit, as in industries can claim whatever they want from content creators, and this really sucks, I don't care much about the income made off from youtube, I'm simply looking for what's the best for me as a user that can't be mocked by tv shows and industries.

Agree Youtube is becoming a monstrosity. It's getting bigger and bigger, probably thousands of times bigger than it was 10 years ago and the search system haven't advanced at all to accommodate it. All you see on it these days are users paid by Google to keep doing useless crap. I would definitely choose anything over Youtube

I prefer Youtube because that's where most channels that post interesting content to me are. LGR, MVG, Digital Foundry, Vadim M, GVMERS...etc. to be honest I never even check Vimeo, except for some very rare occasions when I get a link that leads me there.
