I downloaded an environment map, and to be used it has to go into valve/gfx/env yada yada I understand that. But the punchline here is.....that folder does not exist, even though I havent touched anything. Unless, of course, it's meant to go into valve/gfx/vgui, but I tried that and it does not work GAAAAARRRGGGGGHHHHH :zonked:

Just create it! Simple as that :cool:
So just make a folder in the right place called env and stick the env. map in there.

or unpack pak0.pak with wally so you get the env folder out of it.

open the gfx folder.
right-click in an empty space.
choose New->Folder from the menu that pops up.
name the folder env.
put the environment map files in it.

valve decided to remove the gfx/env folder a few patches back, leading to some crazy skies for those without opengl rendering or something

but, how do I unpack the pak0 file with wally?

Open it, then Tools-> Extract

or use pakscape which has a drag and drop thing
