What is ms? In r_speeds. Maps lag a lot if ms gets to a mere 200. I must know what it is! Its not in the glossary and I couldnt find anything through searches.

The MS reading is your ping, if I'm not mistaken.

That's not polies, that's the number of milliseconds that it takes to draw the frame. 200ms is a fifth of a second.

So if you have low r_speeds and such, the MS reading stays low, no?

Yes - unless your PS is lousy.

Well I know its not polies, but the other two main things of rspeeds are polies so I used to calling things related to r_speeds <name> polys or polies or however you spell it. Well do skyboxesmake ms go up? a lot I mean. Becuase I must admin a lot of my maps have so many block stuck together in weird ways that I'm afraid NOT to use a skybox. (I didnt use a skybox for de_full_city or cf_icegalaxy or full_city. Probably some other maps, but My r good ones, like winter_city used a skybox, I must confess. Well my pc must be lousy (was already blatantly obvious though) because today i was testing a map with about 200 wpoly and my ms was around 300. I lagged man. I lagged bad.

A skybox will make r_speeds go up because the engine is rendering more! Don't use sky boxes. If you need a sky, there are ways to do it. Click here.

Just putting block of sky where it usually in the nomal 2fort (I am remaking 2fort for my server, probably wont be submitted) on MY cs_2fort.. well... that desnt work. theres so many blocks is such weird places that there are leaks, so I must resort to a sky box. But no need to worry! I found a way around lag problems with a skybox. In the really big open areas of you map that are outside the playable zone (huge areas tha consist of nothing but sky on most sides and the outside of the playing zone on th other sides) I have place huge blocks to cover up the gaps. Leaving them as blocks lowers r_speeds nearly to what a normal map would have (saves thousands of r_speeds).
