Search the forums and tuts for scripted_sentences. Hgrunts and VOX are the only two that have a library of words, scientists and barneys use the sentences in the PAK file that are already recorded.

sentences.txt is the list of sentences that you can put in scripted sentences, just make sure to add a ! in front of the name in the scripted sentence properties; ie, ba_hello2 becomes !ba_hello2.
The sound files referenced to in sentences.txt are in the PAK file, under scientist, barney, etc.

or, open the Run program in Start menu, type in sndrec32.exe, and record whatever you want, making sure to save it as a .wav, put the file in valve/sounds, and hey presto! you're in the game!
