i'm a semi-n00b at mapping, one map finished, working on 3 more...
i would like to know how to put models into maps in hammer 3.4, (i don use 1.5, as it seems to run slower on my crapy PC, lol)

if anyone cou;d help me...

if you mean custom models then just use either a monster_generics, monster_furniture or cycler (not sure bout that last one.

this will differ if you are mapping for CS

i'm mapping for CS, and a mod me and a bunch of people r working on...

lol, i don like halflife anymore, it wuz fun while it lastd and am awating HL2... i'll map there, but im not wasting my time mapping for HL :zonked:...lol

No person that is mapping for HL does waste his/her time!
In MP maps use cyclers, env_sprites or cycler_sprites to place models.
Be carefull with cyclers though. They change their animation when you shoot them and stop playing when you use them.
In SP, monster_generics are more comfortable.

In SP, monster_generics also happen to bleed when hit.

Use a cycler_sprite or monster_furniture, and surround them with clip brushes if necessary (monster_furniture is walk-throughable)

Whatever you do, don't use cycler_weapon... you will pick it up and block most of your vision. I ran around with a loaded shrub....

LOOK: i need a CUSTOM model (.mdl) put into my Counter-strike map... env_sprite will ONLY let me use a sprite (.spr) please dont post smap..lol i need trres in my mpa ASAP, its in the woods, it dosn't look like that... :(

cycler_sprite will work, just type a model in the pathname instead of a sprite.

I just opened the DoD fgd and got the models out of that for foilage... if you still need trees, that is.

umm, this is a deathmatch map, amd when i put a MDL name into the env, it crashed... i need to put a model in for deathmatch [CS/HL] :zonked:

ns_wad probably comes with Natural Selection, a Half-Life mod. It's not a file everyone has automatically...

Also, the NS team will not tolerate their textures being used in anything other than Natural-Selection, so don't bother trying to use them in a CS map or anything other than NS.

As stated above, you need to use a cycler or cycler_sprite and set a model's path in the field for that.

How can you make models move around. Like the loader.mdl in the GCF file. You all should know. Its in halflife. (The yellow machine that holds a box, that works in toxic slime) Is there a way, other than coding your own monster.... If there is no other way, could someone link me to a tut or something.

You cannot make things do that in counter-strike maps, it'd require a scripted_sequence.
