The items in the hl.fgd aren't all recognized by the game code of CS. Some are left in, some are coded out. It seems the monster_furniture isn't recognized by the CS code, unlike I thought. Well, too bad. You should try another entity.

One thing: it's best not to use other fgd's for CS as it can get pretty confusing! After all, another fgd will not give you other possibilities...

Also note that when an entity is supported by the game code but doesn't appear in the fgd, you can manually give an entity that name and specify it's options with SmartEdit on. Only do so when you know your entities well!

that makes sense but, i still want to put a model in my map but everthing ive tried doesnt work. if you would be so kind as to try to put a model in a junk small map and tell what and how you did it. i would set youre name in stone in my map. ;)

I've just tested and the cycler_sprite works fine.

What I've done was creating a cylcer_sprite, then filling in 'models/fork.mdl' in it's Sprite option. That's all...
Please make sure you use / instead of ... only one of them works right and it often takes me two times to find out again wich one...

Monsters never work in multiplayer games, so they won't work in CS. All the original HL weapons work in CS, but nothing else that is in the HL fgd and not in the CS fgd will work, as far as I know.

I know this has been answered, but I thought it might be important to add this:
Any FGD is only a tool for the Hammer editor.

An FGD lists all the game specific coded items that are available for use by Hammer.
Changing the FGD doesn't have any effect on the Game, it only changes how things are viewed in Hammer.
So if you want to add something to your FGD, then it must already be in the Game code for it to take effect.

Many of the original HL coded entities were indeed carried over to CS, but not all of them. Some of them were enhanced, some were not.

And as it has been mentioned above, You might be able to take a single entity and add it to an FGD, but it will only work in game, if it was coded into the gamein the first place.

Remember, it stands for Forge Game Data - Seventh

Can you use fgds to map steam maps? You just wont get all the options right?

Uh, Steam isn't a mod. The mods in Steam are identical (as is normal HL) so you just use the same FGDs as before and... it's the same :

You can use FGDs on steam maps....

You need the CS 1.6 FGD to have features such as weather, though. The HL one is the same.
