deathmatch or singleplay?
if you want the player to start in deathmatch use
info_player_deathmatch
and in singleplayer us
info_player_start
you just select the entity tool and scroll down the list of entities then just I_P_S or I_P_DM then click in the top view and drag it around same in the other views, or you could just click somewhere in the 3d view
