is anyone here interested with helping me try to make a map similar to halos blood gulch i kinda started but it would take me for ever alone so if anyone else wanted to help me that would be great :)

wel i started and i started a bit of vertex manipulation and then i realized how giant the level would have to be so i deleted it and started over maybe we can talk on msn or sometin so itll be faster than this

but we'd have to make it pretty quick (Less than 1 hour. or so.)

yea that sounds good ive alredy made the ground, walls, and two bases. pretty much the only other crap we hafta do is vm and entities but thatll probably take a really long time considerin how big the level is

Blood Gulch would be a little hard for the Half-Life engine to handle, since I don't think you could safley see the distance from one end to the other, without having major bad r_speeds. Its actually quite big once you think of it, and there isn't really much for good Half-Life action, ecept if it was made for TFC. If you do that, you need a TFC mapper to convert it to TFC (I think Howdy is one, and the late jobabob.)

Now thinking as an expierenced mapper I would say thats impossible for the HL engine. But thinking of it as a fun idea I say lets go right on ahead and make it :D .

I'll help where I can. Also blood gulch is a tough map to do that in because like half of the point in it is the vehicles. that grass texture won't do it looks stretched, and too real. I know that sounds dumb but I have tried grass textures like that in games and it just is to real, like your looking at a photograph. As soon as I get home (in two days) I will start making you some good textures :) . Can we use aim to talk possibly?

The idea's I have involve using the textures used in the actual blood gultch - for that superb realism :

Really? It must look better on Halo then it does on Half-Life. I saw ur aim and thought it was just something randomly entered lol... Well I can have many area's of helpfulness so hopefully I can fit in somewhere.
Designing this can be a problem because of how big it is and how everythiing need's to fit together. Hey floater, can you make an page kinda where you can post up screenies of the map (the actual one) so that we all have something to work with, whatever were doing

Halo MOD, where you take all the multiplayer maps from Halo and put them in your own MOD. You could reskin the players to be the Cyborg superhuman we all know. If you guys do make a MOD off of this, then you should really take it off of TFC. TFC is a great game, better than CS in my view. although, even if you do this, there would be no way to make a banshi. Ghosts might be possible, and you would have to combine your gun onto your vehical entity to create the warthog. If you completed it, valve would not buy it, because it would be complete plaugerizm, making all that I wrote completly pointless.

Sure, make your map, but do not make a mod out of it. It is illeagle (Sick bird).

Halo maps are to complex for the Half-Life engine, the r_speeds would be through the roof. It'd be like playin' Halo on 266MHz PC.

naaawww, the second map in the campaign Halo is very possible, we can just put the areas that won't fit in Hammer outside the boundrys. It'll still work. Yep. (Sarcasim)

I agree with you Rileymo. I don't think they can do it. Prove me wrong ;) . I'll be looking forward to the map, if you do.

i kinda dount we could make it in2 a mod and if we did we would hafta name it sometin like WALO or sometin different from halo or else it wouldnt fly and there are some halo maps that arent too big look at hang em high for example i think we could do a scaled down version of halo like we definitely wouldnt be able to make death island ;)

2x the proc speed, 8x the RAM. yes it definitly blows the Xbox away.

Its sad seeing PC games dissapear from the shelves replaced by console games :( .

Well thats not really the point of XBOX... Its a cheaper system than a computer and its a console so... (btw rileymo halo was originaly made for xbox and later made for the pc)

Jst compare prices for the answer, a decent gaming machine bought from a norm company would probably be 1500 dollars. I myself run on a lower machine that was 1100 originally but I have upgraded it a little... An XBOX cost's what, like 200$..?

Well actually... All console games are created on the PC or Mac so therefore it was meant for the PC originally. So you can't have the console without the PC.

I agree with you about the price issues of PCs though.

u should make the map, it would be really fun... IDEA!!!! when hl2 comes out convert it to an hl2 map! hl2 maps can be 16 times biger then hl maps! EVEN ON MULTIPLAYER!!!

idd and i for one cant wait to see the fininshing result by the way is it gonna be a mod for sure or multiplayer maps! wil it have new weapon models and is there gonna be any coding? if a lot of people put their work into it im sure it cold turn out great like sven co-op or the spec!!! ;)

i guess the textures are kinda badish and really they should take pictures wit digi cam or look on internet 'google' for images that u can save and convert through wally or expert program thing!

Er, no, maps convert over to HL2 as long as you re-compile them with the HL2 toolset.
