(Bad subject title, but I am in a rush)

I'm making a MOD, and I know how to make my own backgrounds, strings etc. The basics.

So I make my background (out of pieces from a website :) ) and I save into the gfx/shell folder of my MOD, and call it splash.

It is 800x600 - 24 bit. When editing the background, it looks fine, but when I activate my MOD, the background is kind of in pieces. Like sections are just kind-of moved left or right.

I'm not sure, but I think they only move left or right where the writing is: explaining what a button does, and stuff. (the small, greyish writing)

Plz can someone help ?

There are tutorials on this site for setting up a mod. In the menu to the left, under Tutorials, click Browse All and look for Setting Up a Mod, Part 2, Splash Screens. I think that should help you out.
