This is an open competition.

I am challenging everyone to finish "Escape from Black Mesa" map with the highest health and armour. Whoever scores highest should post his or her walkthrough as a comment for that map.

And of course, that person owns the bragging right for the entire week.

Very clever - good luck, I might have a stab at the weekend if this thread's still alive to remind me.

I have tried different approaches myself, and there always seems to be more ways to make it through with more health and armor. That was the impetus to open the invitation for a competition.

I am curious to see how creative people get in their use of stealth.

check the vault.

btw, it would be better to make people send in a .dem as they could easily put NOTARGET and noclip on, then fly to the bottom of the cliff, picking up armour on the way.

Do we trust people so little in a little contest? Nah...

As for the map, I completed it once now and I don't really bother completing it again and again. I think you show potential by putting thought in the gameplay, now I'd say you should pay more attention to visuals, to achieve a more consistent experience. Good luck!

(Oh, and for the cliff... perhaps a trigger_hurt with a high damage value would be handy, instead of making the cliff higher? :))

No need for a .dem file, because a text walkthrough would be much smaller to transfer and easier to display for everyone.

I would know if anyone cheated because. . .well, what are the cheaters going to write down as their walkthrough? That they drank Red Bull and flew down with full health?

Thanks for the tip, Captain_P!

it would be, but a text walkthrough only goes so far. a text walkthrough wont get you through with exactly the same health each time, as each player responds differently in certian situations.

btw, how can a .dem no be easy? if youve played the map, youve got hl. thats all a .dem needs.
