I'm using WorldCraft 2.1 here, and I'm using expert compile and I've done what the toutorial told me to do. Now I've fixed up some of the parameters so that it can find my map properly, and last time I did that it worked, and it went to the LOADING screen. By then I had to get off, so I did ctrl+alt+delete.

Now this time, it won't go to the LOADING screen. It might be something to do with that ************ERROR*********** Error opening [dierctory name, doesn't matter, ignore] (ignore the part before these brackets) .map: Invaild argument that comes up in the processing window, but it skips past that, and there are no leaks in my map either.

Help me! :(

Well, first off, get hammer 3.4 off Verc and download ZHLT custom build 1.7 (mhlt) while you're there.

Any errors in the compile log?

Maps made in WorldCraft can be opened in Hammer just as normal... Hammer is just the latest version of WorldCraft...

You can't go vice-versa though: Hammer maps will not open in Worldcraft.

Sorry guys if I'm spamming, but what is ZHLT custom build 1.7 for?
Posted 20 years ago2004-10-15 03:50:08 UTC Post #66607
Ok I've found up what the ZHLT custom build thing is for (it has some tools in it) but I need to ask this: After I've followed the turorial on how to expert compile, how long will it take for it to go to the LOADING screen after I click go?

No map is the same, it depends if you've made a noob killbox, or a noobier cs_misssion type map, which no doubt blows a monkey's ... ok, well, I went off track; here's teh solution:

The tools, you will need to replace the qvis/qrad/qbsp/qcsg with those that come with zhlt (hlbsp/hlcsg/hlvis/hlrad)

and use teh Batch Compiler front end prigram, very usefull for noobs.

To set teh tools in Batch, open it, go to : Settings / Options.. / Paths

and set CSG: to [wherever you saved the hlcsg file]

set BSP: as above ^

VIS: as above ^

RAD: as above ^

Then save, and make sure you tick all teh CSG/BSP/VIS/RAD check boxes on teh right hand side of teh Batch screen, but DON'T tick HL.

When in Hammer, go to File / Export to Map and save teh .map fiel somewhere, you'll need to open that .map file in Batch to compile it./

I hope thsi helps,. but as always there is a f**king tutorial on this.

Make sure you go to (in Batch Compiler) Specifications and select Bare Zoners

Mate, I've already replaced the old tools with the hl tools without using a batch file... I did say I figured out what they were for didn't I?
Oh and I've never made a batch file before, I made one however like five mins ago. Sorry if I'm being rude, but you gotta give me the exact path...
