I want to create a sequence in which you hit a button and a song starts playing howdoisethatupthanksalot-sorry-for-putting-it-all-in-one-word

Use an ambient_generic. Make the sound file a wav file using a program like Goldwave. Click here to get the requirements for a Half-Life wav file. Then, all you need to do is setup the ambient_generic (it's not hard) and trigger it like any ordinary entity.

Oh Antony can i ask something!

I was wondering if you can use ambient_genric in Counter Strike because i tested it with a song thats .wav already and used in another map. I used it in my map made a trigger on a bridge and had the ambient play everywhere! but notihng happens when i trigger it in gameplay mode! Any ideas?

Counter-Strike should have the same file requirements as Half-Life. Did you put the file in the right place? It has to go in Counter-Strike's sounds folder.

yeah, you need to set the ambient up properly,

flags: start silent, play everywhere

and a name, that should do it.

plus if teh sound file is used elsewhere in a cs map, if teh maop is official, just use the path to that .wav, so that ppl don't have to download a new wav.
