I fire up my map and do developer 1 and r_speeds 1 in console. The r speeds show in console but not in the hud, they just read as 0's. Any ideas on this? Here's a couple screens to shwo you what i mean.

One
Two

Yep OpenGL

If you look at the console every second reading shows the 0's, it's like it's reading only those on the HUD

Hm... try fps_max 30 and then see. Maybe HL doesn't bother computing the wpolies and epolies if the frame's drawn too quickly.

What about sv_cheats?
I always run hl with +sv_cheats 1 +developer 2 and some other stuff.
Afaik developer requires sv_cheats to be activated.

IIRC that is not the case.
Developer mode is just a tool for dev's, you need developer 2 for the overview btw (I'm sure you know, just thought I'd mention it).

I have no idea what your problem is, please tell us exactly what you do when you run your map, from the end of teh compile to teh moment you took teh screenshots.

The more info we have, the easier it is to fix.

Ok...
Day of Defeat mapping judging from the screenies and the siite?

Problem:
They are viewable when you run the console ~ but dissapear when you return to the game/fullscreen/hud...
Answer: (sort of)
This was discussed ages ago... so long ago that I don't remember the fix.
But I do remember that with CS based map's the R_speeds will not continuously show on the screen beacuse they were never designed to.

You are stuck with checking them in the console ~ until I can remember how it was fixed, or if there actually was a fix.

For DoD stuff I have always found Nick Robbins Day of Defeat mapping to be a great source of info.

CS has never done that to me, I load up the map, type:

(in console)

developer 1
r_speeds 1

and it streams perfectly, I haven't heard of this from any mappers I have known, and I mainly 'hang' with CS mappers.

I will ask around, as I don't know the fix either. =/

Andy, that's not what's happening with Propaganda, if you look at the screenies.

Ok guys for the hell of it I loaded the same map in my laptop. It's got a geforce2go 64 so I can run it in open GL. Anyway in my exe I ran -dev and then fired up r_speeds when I got in game...NO PROBLEMS it worked fine it streamed the poly counts. So I was set to max_fps 72 or whatever the default is with vsync off, I then upped it to 100, still no problems. If I look in my desktop console while this is running I see every second reading shows 0's. I am not sure why but thats what is displaying in the HUD, the 0 reading. If you guys have any further ideas let me know please. Thanks fellas.

Actually monkey I didn't figure it out lol, I still have the same problem on my desktop.
Posted 19 years ago2004-10-27 12:47:01 UTC Post #69862
Then work out the differences between the two?
Posted 19 years ago2004-10-27 13:35:39 UTC Post #69871
Ohh, sorry, when you said "desktop console" I didn't realise that "desktop" had any significance :)

Very odd though... try turning V-Sync on on y'PC?

Tried vsync, Neutrino suggested I make sure my minimap is off, I will try that when I get home from work.
Posted 19 years ago2004-10-27 19:13:16 UTC Post #69931
Ok the minimap is the problem. Do not run the minimap with r_speeds fellas, simple solution but one I was not aware of. Thanks guys.
